My Vegas pro Utilities / Tools

Peter_P wrote on 2/19/2017, 4:16 AM

Hello together,

since some Vegas Pro users where asking for the tools I wrote for Vp13 and before, to be ported to Vp14 I will provide then here in this thread.

FadeMinFrames_Vp14_V202

This tool allows to eliminate the audio-gaps at the begin and end of the video-files from Panasonic digicams. In a second step you can select the number of frames that the event should overlap to get smoother transitions.

Initially released for Vp13 V2.01 18.Aug.2016
V2.02 for Vp14 19.Feb.2017

ShowEventLength_Vp14_V2.00

This is a custom command with the functionality of CC_ShowEventLength as provides by Gilles PIALAT – 15/02/2008 usable for Vegas Pro 13, that I derived from my ShowRecDat to have the event length information in a separate floating or dockable window for Vegas pro 14.

V2.00 for Vp14 19Feb.2017

DataNameClips V2.05

This is a stand alone tool to change the filename of many kinds of video clips to the recorded start-time and date. For DJI *.MP4 clips it also allows to use the GPS data.

DateNameClips_V205_Nov16.zip uploaded 27.Jan2018

RouteAnimation FX V1.02

It allows to interactively draw route points on a map or picture  and display them animated in the event. This is to be used as an event FX and is to be installed as a DirectX DLL. Details are contained in the *.zip. Even though it is quite old (started in Jun2010), it is still working with all new versions of Vegas pro and even MSP. For Vp15/16 installation hints, please see these posts. Here is a sample of the FX in use:

A very good tutorial for installation and use can be found here.

RouteAnimationX64_V1.02.zip uploaded 11.Nov2018

ExportMarkerSFL

This script tool allows to exporrt markers to be used for DVDA and Drax as described in this thread. I have added it to the location of the link below.

If I feel any other of my tool could be of any help to others, I will add them here to this thread.

These tools are for free but with no obligation of any kind to me.

The zipped files can be downloaded from this location using the password : '19Feb2017' (without quotes)

Tested ShowEventLength. Works fine in VP14. Thanks for sharing!

In the Install.pdf it says C:\ProgramData\Sony\Vegas Pro\Application Extensions\
for V14 it must be C:\ProgramData\Vegas Pro\Application Extensions\  ofcourse.

Under W10 it's also important to unlock the .dll

Sorry this was unfortunately not adapted from the Vp13 Version 😔

The unlocking is only required on some Win 10 systems. I still don't know what setting this causes.

¡¡Muchas gracias!! In my system (Windows 10-Sony VP13) working well.

Peter_P wrote on 2/19/2017, 8:31 AM

I have corrected the *.pdf files with the correct path for Vp14 CCs now.

Unlocking must take place before copying to ProgramData

wayne-severson wrote on 2/19/2017, 10:45 AM

How do you unlock it?

Peter_P wrote on 2/19/2017, 10:45 AM

Do you know, why this is only required on some systems?

Here an example :

Now I found a hint on a German site. The browsers seem to set a flag on downloaded files that then need to be unlocked in the described way.

For some reason I cant get the ShowEventLength extension and the ShowRecDat extension to show up in VP14. I have placed it all possible folder but it doesn't show up. I have other extensions such as the SeMW that works fine. Any ideas?

Please try to download it again. Marco had reported that this has fixed a problem he had.

Peter_P wrote on 2/20/2017, 8:03 AM

It is independent from the system but depends on the method used to unzip the file. The reason, I have never seen this before on my system is, that I always use 7-Zip to unpack the downloaded files. If you use the windows explorer ‘extract all

you will have to ‘unlock’ the DLL at the bottom of the properties 'Sicherheit'.

I did, several times but it doesn't want to show up.

Edit:

Got it! had to copy it to "C:\Users\userX\Documents\Vegas Application Extensions" and unlock it. Strange isn't it?

Did you try it on the path I postet : C:\ProgramData\VEGAS Pro\Application Extensions

and did you try to add it to the Toolbar ?

Peter_P wrote on 2/20/2017, 9:08 AM

Strange isn't it?

There are some location specified to work with Vegas pro CCs. So if at least now this one works, it's fine ;)

Yes it works and I like it!

Would it be possible to have the text wrap around if the window get's smaller? Sometimes the file path is very long and it disappears to the right unless I make the window very wide.

I normally have the ShowRecDat window docked at the bottom of the scopes window, right to the preview window.

Currently I'm busy with other stuff, but will look into the wrap option next month. If I forget, please remind me 😉

Thank you Peter_P for the "ShowEventLength" Extension.
Just a request, is there a way to change the font size? For my use I think is a little bit too big.

Peter_P wrote on 2/21/2017, 1:14 AM

Yes, the fond size is reduced when you reduce the width of the window.
