DVD Architect asks for serial number every time I run it

Heath9409 wrote on 9/30/2016, 2:20 PM

I suddenly started getting an error number 59 (whatever that is) whenever I tried to run DVD Architect 7.0 There was no explanation as to what the error was or what to do, just an OK button and the program wouldn't even try to start. So I uninstalled DVD Architect 7.0 and reinstalled it. But now, everytime I start the program running I get asked to enter the serial number and activate/register the product.

Also, when I try making a DVD I get a message saying I'm logged on to my computer without system administrator priviledges and some features of the program may not be available. (I am the sole user of this computer and I'm fairly sure my user account is the administrator account). This didn't happen previously when I was using DVD Architect 7.0 before the error 59 started and my subsequent reinstallation of the program.

And now I've just had the following message when trying to make a DVD: "An error occured while writing a file. The reason for the error could not be determined."

I'm starting to think I may need to uninstall all of Vegas Pro 14 including addons and plugins and then reinstall from scratch.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

See https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/activation-of-new-purchase--103159/#ca636374 but delete this folder instead of the one described in that post:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Sony Creative Software > DVD Architect Pro > 7.0 > License

Please let us know if it works.

Thank you for the suggestion of a possible solution to my problem.

However, I only seem to have 6.0 in DVD Architect Pro folder. I thought I'd got the Pro version of 7.0 along with Vegas Pro 14, but it seems not.

7.0 is in a folder just called DVD Architect.

And there doesn't seem to be a License folder in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Sony Creative Software > DVD Architect > 7.0           (There are two folders: one called Lang and one called MsiKeyPath but no License folder)

There is a License folder in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Sony Creative Software > DVD Architect Pro > 6.0

I've uninstalled and reinstalled DVD Architect 7.0 again and this time the activate/register box didn't come up when I restarted the program. Hopefully that issue is now resolved. (Note: I still haven't got the License folder when I check the registry)

However, I'm still getting the message about missing features because I'm not logged in with system administrator priviledges. This doesn't happen with Vegas Pro 14 and didn't used to happen with DVD Architect 7.0.

Sorry that didn't work. I was only speculating that the 7.0 folder would exist in that location and should have made that clear. I only have 5.2 installed. The DVD Architect licensing could work differently with 7.0. I'm not sure ahow to solve the system administrator privileges problem. Maybe you could try this:

Right click on the DVD Architect shortcut icon > Shortcut tab > Advanced > Check "Run as administrator"

You obvioulsy should not have to do this if the installation goes normally but please let us know if it works.

And you can submit a support request at https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/vegas/form giving as much detail about the problem as you can, and also including a link to this thread.

You might also try this (found via this thread).

Thanks for the additional info. I tried "run as administrator" and the program works perfectly. As you say, not ideal to have to access the program that way every time, but at least it works.

Using the info on the thread you linked to in your latest comment, I found that holding CTRL + SHIFT while launching DVD Architect has the same effect as right-clicking the program icon and then clicking "run as administrator". So that's a bit quicker.

I've just spent the past hour fiddling around trying to find the hidden administrator account and realised that I needed to add a space after the word "administrator" and before the "/" Then it works.

However, activating the hidden administrator account also seemed to automatically create a password for that account that it didn't let on about and I couldn't access the account because it said it needed a password. Eventually I figured out how to change the password and got in to the administrator account.

Now I just need to work out how to find the download of the installation software for DVD Architect 7.0 while I'm logged into the hidden administrator account. But once I've done that I'm sure all will be well.

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.
