I re-installed VEGAS PRO 16 and get this message when trying to open an MP4 file:

ERROR 0x8004e1c7 (Message Missing)

I uninstalled the program and installed the newest version of .NET 4.8.1

Re-installed VEGAS but still get the same error.

(It crashes also when trying to open the file.)

@Dave-Sonner

Have you ever loaded a file like that into Vegas Pro 16?

Codec ID                                 : dash (dash/mp42/iso6)

Rewrap the file in Handbrake or Shutter Encoder and report.

I installed Shutter Encoder and ran the "rewrap" function.

The file will load in Vegas 16 now.

Thanks for this advice.

This problem file was downloaded from Vimeo.
We stream our live Worship Service and then it saves to Vimeo for others to view.
I found out later they save a local recording of the stream.
I obtained a copy and it loads in Vegas 16 with no problem or error message.
It also plays on my media player without any problem, and the Vimeo download did not.

Here is the Codec ID: isom (iso4/avc1/isom)
I believe this is recorded from a Blackmagic ATEM, but I need to double-check that.

So my question now is:
What might Vimeo be doing to the file that causes these problems?
