@michael-harrison @NickHope Right-click on Vegas on the taskbar and it works. I found that by accident.

Intel Core i7 10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (to 4.65GHz), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GBytes. Memory 32 GBytes DDR4. Also Intel UHD Graphics 630. Mainboard: Dell Inc. PCI-Express 3.0 (8.0 GT/s) Comet Lake. Bench CPU Multi Thread: 5500.5 per CPU-Z.

@Robert Johnston If by "works" you mean the dialog appears, that doesn't work for me.

I just decided to try it, though I hate restoring all my settings, and found that it definitely defaults to "no" when run from a pinned icon on the taskbar. It was too quick to start up and it came up remembering what files I'd opened last.

@michael-harrison Maybe I should have been more explicit. While holding hold the ctrl-shift key, you right-click the icon.

@Robert Johnston Hold CTRL-SHIFT and start VEGAS by double-clicking the icon. You don't need to right-click. You need to "start" VEGAS. But you need to keep holding CTRL-SHIFT until the dialog appears.

@jetdv you don't double-click the pinned taskbar icon. It's a single-click icon, at least in Win 10.

@Robert Johnston probably means right-click and choose VP from the menu, though that also doesn't work for me either. I'm on Win 10 so MS has likely changed the taskbar behavior.

@michael-harrison @jetdv @NickHope I'm on Windows 11 and using a Logitech M720 mouse with default settings.

If VEGAS Pro is behaving strangely you can try resetting it to the default settings. You may also wish to do this in order to reconfigure VEGAS from scratch.

If you have worked hard on configuring personalised settings then back up your C: drive before you do this so you can restore them if this doesn't help.

Reset as follows:

  1. Close VEGAS Pro
  2. Press CTRL+SHIFT on your keyboard while double-clicking the program's shortcut icon on the desktop to launch it *.
  3. Continue holding CTRL+SHIFT down until you see a window that asks "Do you want to reset all preferences to default values?"
  4. Place a checkmark next to "Delete all cached application data" and then click "Yes".
  5. For older products, continue to hold the CTRL & SHIFT keys until the program is fully loaded.

* - Note that you will not see the "Delete all cached application data" box if you open the program from the Windows Start Menu or programs list or Taskbar.

More help with resetting VEGAS to default settings is available here.

Thank you. Deleting the cache fixed the problem and now I can access the hub. Thanks so much.

@NickHope thank you. Anything I've tried, it takes me back to the activation screen where I enter my serial number and email address. Once I enter, a box pops up to say, "an online connection could not be established". Again, I've been using the program successfully on my laptop. So, not sure why it stopped working and is now asking me to register and activate when I have done so since 2021. I have contacted customer support and over a 4-day period, they have instructed me on a series of things to do that have all been unsuccessful. Finally, they told me that Vegas Pro 18 is a legacy product and there isn't much else they could do. They also suggested that I upgrade.
