Flickering

Nova wrote on 6/10/2023, 8:21 AM

my outro clip keeps flickering, every other piece of clip i have is completely fine but this one 7 second clip wont stop flickering on me, and its not even constant, sometimes it decides to work for a few seconds then flickers again, ( flickers to black and back on to the video), im curently working with 30 fps, ive tried switching to 60 fps, it just makes it go completely black. ( all the other clips work fine if i do the switch to 60fps). im really not sure what to do now, i used to edit with vegas pro about 2 years ago and never had this issue. / curently using the latest verson of vegas pro 20

Edit: my bad I do have the legit, bought version of vegas pro 20, I did not realize there was a change, thank you to whoever pointed that out to me.

Try to use a legal version of Vegaspro. As @Dexcon stated, Sony Vegaspro doesn't exist anymore for ten years, so I'm wondering what you used to edit the last two years.

If you have one and only one file that flickers, follow @j-v's instructions for your file Outro.mov.

I find it really hard to stay focused when I see the Master Bus clipped at over 4db, but that's just me.

@Nova

As a diagnostic technique:

  • Use Shutter Encoder (an external encoder) to convert file Outro.MOV to Apple ProRes 4444XQ. (I know that's overkill)
  • Replace the file Outro.MOV in your Vegas Pro project with the newly encoded file.
  • Report the results.

I'm going out to mow my grass.

It's that GoPro is an acquisition format that is not optimized for nonlinear editing.

The conversion to ProRes, which is designed as an intermediate format is lossless, and easier on your resources when decoded.

(ProRes 422 is also fine and likewise overkill for your 8 bit 420 video source).

Can you upload your outro clip to a file sharing site, let others see if they get the same problem?
