For developers: FX/Plugins list view/sorting in Vegas Pro

Dawn32 wrote on 9/12/2018, 4:49 PM

It would be nice and pretty necessary to implement more viewing/sorting options in the Plugin List ("Plugin Chooser") for audio and video plugins in Vegas Pro. When lots of VST plugins from different manufacturers are installed on the computer, it's getting hard to find a plugin in Vegas Pro, as all of them are located in the same list. Separation by folders such as "Vegas" and "Third Party" are not enough in this case, in my opinion.

It would be good to have more options in the Plugin Chooser:

- View/sort plugins by manufacturer.

- View/sort plugins by name.

- View/sort plugins by date.

- View/sort plugins by type of effect, if possible to determine (i.e. compressor, EQ, filter, limiter, distortion, delay, reverb, modulator etc).

- Show plugin folders as they are in "Vstplugins" folder on the hard drive (for example, Ableton Live shows the plugins that way, which is handy).

- Make it possible to scroll through the plugin chain with the mouse scroll wheel (both for Audio FX and Video FX).

More Pro-Audio and Midi features in Vegas Pro are very welcome and appreciated. Vegas started as a DAW anyways back in the days ;)

Thank you.

P.S. Is VST3 support coming in future updates?

Agreed. My plug-ins are out of control (my audio plug-ins list is even longer):

It's a subject that has come up many times over the years, and relatively speaking it would probably not be so hard to code some new plugin-manager features. Here are some further feature requests for it:

  • Ability to "favorite" FX (e.g. with a star).
  • User-generated FX folders with drag-and-drop functionality.
  • Restore the "delete/rename" functionality (greyed out since VP14 build 244).

I was just about to post the same thing. Scanning merely 3 folders doesn't quite do it. And I really don't like the idea of moving plugins to different folders.

+1 for all of the above

A search/filter box would be great too.

I also request this point here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/features-request-make-the-pan-crop-effects-window-more-intuitive--117026/

;)

I also would request a search/filter/sorting, but about Presets.

You can make your favorite FX folder.

You can make your favorite FX folder.

It's just a workaround for a long time, just like what Nick stated above. What we really need is a new plug-in manager feature for Vegas.
