Rosebud wrote on 1/11/2008, 3:19 PM
"Go To Event" become “Go To” custom command and now include “Go to Markers/region” function.

What new:
Added “Go to marker/region” feature.
To renumber Markers and regions > Right click the listview and choose “Renumber Markers/Regions”
Checkbox status and selected Tabpage are now retained.
Focus is set to Timeline after going to Event/Marker/Region.

Thanks Gilles but I can't get this installed.

I put CC_GotoEvent_v1b3.dll into:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Sony\Vegas Pro\8.0\Application Extensions

...but it doesn't appear under "View Menu > Extensions > Go To Event" when I restart Vegas Pro 8.0b.

The other custom command I have is Edward Troxel's AutoSave so I guess I should put it in the same location as that, except I can't find where that has installed itself. I did a search on C: drive for AutoSave*.* and found nothing.

Any suggestions?
Rosebud wrote on 1/21/2008, 1:03 AM
Try to install it in “C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Vegas Application Extensions\”

The “AutoSave.dll” is installed in this directory.
NickHope wrote on 1/21/2008, 2:38 AM
I've got 3 folders in C:\Documents and Settings\...

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator
and

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users
and

C:\Documents and Settings\Default User

Most of my application stuff goes in C:\Documents and SettingsAdministrator\ but in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents there is no "Vegas Application Extensions" folder.

I have Windows XP x64 and I log on as "nick" with Administrator priveleges.

A search of C:\ can find neither a folder called "Vegas Application Extensions" nor a file called "AutoSave.dll" but AutoSave is working fine.

Any other ideas?

in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents there is no "Vegas Application Extensions" folder.

You have to create it.
NickHope wrote on 1/21/2008, 4:35 AM
Yes I've done that but it still doesn't appear.

Is there anything else I have to do to install it other than putting the .dll file in there?

Where shoud the .png icon go?

I'm also still puzzled where AutoSave has installed itself. (I want to ask Edward but waiting for approval to the jetdv forum).

Thank you Rosebud!

GoToEvent: Working very well. Any chance that through GoToEvent we could have the Thumbnails/Icons of the Events? I work visually. The Thumbnail would be neat.

GoToMarker: Again EXCELLENT! - Is there a chance to have the "Go to and play" CHECK by default? Having it default OFF/Unchecked means I have to repeat the checking. Now, as I am using the GoToMarker for that purpose, it would seem logical for it to do that immediately. Sure, have it so I CAN unckeck for not. Maybe there should be 2 options:

1] - Go Play

2] - Go To

Also, would it be possible to have it AS an Extension? This way I can "pick-off" markers on a whim! At the moment once I have "used" the GTM script it has gone.

Again THANK YOU!!!

Grazie

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Vegas Application Extensions

Nick, I checked my machine and, like everyone else, AutoSave installed to the C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Vegas Application Extensions folder.

BTW, hwere are Edward's instructions for AutoSave.

Vegas Pro 8 users, here's the first available Custom Command for everyone to try. AutoSave will automatically backup your project and also provide multiple time-stamped versions. If Vegas is running, please exit Vegas, install this tool, and then restart Vegas. You can download it from:
http://www.jetdv.com/scripts/AutoSave1-1-0.exe
Note that this is a newer version than originally released.

Once installed, this Custom Command will remain inactive until the initial setup has been performed. To perform the setup, in Vegas Pro 8 go to Tools - Extensions - and pick "AutoSave". Select the various options as desired and set the "Emergency" folder. Once activated, it will automatically save your project every "x" minutes (dependent on what you entered in the setup screen).

AutoSave will automatically start each time Vegas is restarted and create backups with the following methods/restrictions:

1. Each time a project is "backed up", it will be saved a total of three times:
a. Once in the "Emergency" folder with the date/time appended
b. Once in the project folder with the date/time appended
c. Once in the project folder under the original file name

2. It can be turned on or off via the setup screen. When on, there will be a square around the icon in the menu. When off, there will be no square around the icon in the menu.

3. If the current project has never been saved, it will request that you do an initial save the project.

4. It will NOT save if the project hasn't been modified since the last save.

5. It will stop trying to save when rendering is started and will resume saving when rendering is finished.

Changes in the new version:

1) The "Date/Time" names will no longer appear in the File menu.

2) You can optionally choose to save the "Date/Time" files in either the Emergency folder, the Project folder, or BOTH

NOTE: Vegas must be shut down when this plugin is installed.

Autosave is stored in {My Documents}\Vegas Application Extensions

To find it, just go to "Start - My Documents" and there you should find the "Vegas Application Extensions" folder.

(I want to ask Edward but waiting for approval to the jetdv forum).

You're activated now.
Rosebud wrote on 1/21/2008, 8:58 AM
Nick,
I sent you a mail with an installer to try.
Have you received it?
Rosebud wrote on 1/21/2008, 9:06 AM
Thank for your comment Grazie,

Unfortunately, I think it’s not possible to have the Thumbnails/Icons of the Events.

I plan to integrate the “Go to Marker” script to the “Go to Event” custom command interface.
No problem to make the “Go to and play” checked by default, I’ll add this to the next release.

btw, you can find HERE another script I made (split volume envelope).
NickHope wrote on 1/21/2008, 12:20 PM
Yes thanks i got the installer and ran it and it put CC_GotoEvent.dll and CC_GotoEvent.png into D:\Vegas Application Extensions, which also contains the AutoSave files.

D:\ is set to be My Documents on my system which is why i couldn't find AutoSave before.

But unfortunately even after a reboot it still doesn't show up in Vegas > Tools > Extensions, but AutoSave does. Should GotoEvent just appear in that menu?
Rosebud wrote on 1/21/2008, 12:26 PM
But unfortunately even after a reboot it still doesn't show up in Vegas > Tools > Extensions

You should see it in “Vegas > View > Extensions” menu.
ushere wrote on 1/21/2008, 3:12 PM
don't have any folder marked 'extensions, so i simply dropped the files in:

C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0\Script Menu

works perfectly.

many thanks rosebud....
Rosebud wrote on 1/21/2008, 3:31 PM
ushere,
Your are certainly talking about the « Go to Marker » script.
The custom command “Go to Event” can’t work as a script and should be copied in one of the “application extension” folders.

HERE, an installer for the “Go to Event” CC.
kairosmatt wrote on 1/21/2008, 7:27 PM
Rosebud,
Thanks so much! I like that it will find off line media in your timeline as well, I had a large project that I deleted some unused clips of off, but there was still some empty box on my timeline that took me forever to find. This will save bunches.

just for the record, what's the difference between the extensions in View as opposed to Tools? "GoTo" is View, not tools.
Thanks again!

hi rosebud,

thanks for the installer, however, vegas (8b) isn't picking up anything under extensions at all, but having drop it in scripts, it's working from there?

in fact, i can't find any 'extension' folders for sony anywhere on my system?

thanks again
