Recaptcha is loaded from the hosting site. Still works OK here, even on an iPhone. If it still isn't working, send me a message and I'll provide you a direct link for the trial download.

Thanks for checking guys, (I did check other browsers). It seems there was glitch with Google's service a that time. All the (invisible) CAPTCHAs etc. on my websites were also not working. It's all back to normal now. Thanks again. P.

I'm looking for a way to render all of the regions on my timeline into separate files, one after the next without any intervention from me.

For regions render, try this: http://vasstsoftware.com/product/renderassistant/

"I'm looking for a way to render all of the regions on my timeline into separate files, one after the next without any intervention from me."

I'm not sure where this question came from on this thread, but since someone asked, I can add that HOS does support region renders with an option to join those rendered files upon completion. As posted, there are lots of ways to do this including the freeware batch render script which is readily available.

However, there is one major difference. All of these ways rely upon Vegas to do the rendering. None support rendering using external encoding options such as x264 and none provide any of the Avisynth filtering options available within HOS.

If you just want to render using Vegas codecs, I'd suggest using the freeware Batch Render script or any of the alternatives mentioned. The end result will be the same.

@zdogg

In addition to the advantages that @wwaag already mentioned when using Render Plus HOS to render regions, there is also in HOS the Render Events option with which you can choose which effects and settings will be maintained or not in the chosen regions.

This option is unique to HOS Render Events and depending on your need at the time of editing this detail can make a difference.

The VD rendering template you are using is set to progressive.

Make sure you are using a interlaced rendering template.

Hm,i think i understand what you mean.

But i can not find a interlaced rendering template inside VD.

Any tip ??

thx

@martin-s

This is a VirtualDub to Vegas problem. The rendered file really is interlaced. You will note that the bottom left checkbox says "Override PAR and Field Order With Render Settings". Check this box. For whatever reason, the MagicYUV or UtVideo codecs that are used in VirtualDub do not write the scan type settings in the metadata. You can confirm this using MediaInfo. Since they are not spelled out, Vegas interprets the footage to be progressive when in fact it is still interlaced. Bottom line--just check the box.

Hello everybody,

Maybe you can help me with my problem with Vegas 15.
I want to import footage from my last vacation.
These are 4K / 60 HEVC files of a GoPro 7.
With a few clips that works fine but if I want to load more comes an error message from Vegas and the whole computer crashes a short time later completely.
I have already redone Windows 10, used a second SSD disk for the files, all in vain.
It works fine with Davinci Resolve and Edius. So it does not work for the computer.
I would not like to use another program because I know Vegas well.
I have already converted with Handbrake HEVC in .264 but the quality was visibly worse.

Will the import function of Happy Otter help me?
Can I convert the GoPro files lossless so Vegas can handle it.
And which codec with which settings use?
Or another option?
Sorry for the use of Google Translate ;-)

Thanks and greetings from Germany

Rainer

@rainer-d at this time, it doesn't cost anything to download and install Happy Otter Scripts and you can then try it on your source. Wayne has tutorials posted and maybe there is one on the Import Assist you will want to use. Also, members including Wayne will probably respond with some hints on settings. Good Luck with it.

@rainer-d

Can you upload a short sample clip to something like DropBox where I can download it and take a look? I have some 4K/60 HEVC GoPro footage, but I want to be sure it was recorded with the same settings as yours.

In any case, 4K 60P footage in Vegas is really demanding. You can easily convert to lossless using ImportAssist with either the MagicYUV or UtVideo codecs, but they will lead to very large file sizes. You can also convert to whatever codecs you have installed on your system. For example, GrassValley offers a free codec package. Once your transcoded footage is successfully loaded, you should then consider creating proxies for your actual editing if your preview performance is poor.

As Eagle Six suggested, the best thing is to just download the script package and see if it will work for you.

Have some Gopro 2k7 (50p) files.  OK on laptop timeline until fx added then slow.
HOS converts to .avi using the UT or Magic codec via ffmpeg.
If I select to convert via vdub there is a greater choice of codecs but Vdub is slow compared with ffmpeg.

Cannot select GV codecs via HOS.

Have GV codecs loaded and can render into GV files (HQ.avi) from the timeline.
What step am I missing in not being able to choose GV codecs?

I don't use ffmpeg in the raw so maybe ff does not recognise GV.
Vdub does not present GV codec as an option either.

@diverG

The GrassValey HQX lossless codec is my favorite for four main reasons:

1.The final file size

2.The speed of rendering

3.The ability to support alpha channel.

4. The fluidity and smoothness in the vegas timeline

I was in the same situation as you. I thought HOS could not render using GrassValey HQX. The good news is that it is possible.

1.You have to create a custom Render template using AviDub.

2. Next you have to save this custom template in the VirutalDub Render Settings folder located at C: \ ProgramData \ HappyOtterScripts \ VirtualDub RenderSettings

3. Open the VirtualDub of HOS and select the custom template in the VirtualDub RenderSettings tab and render the files.

You can also use this to render files in Import Assist using the virtualDub option that exists there.

"Cannot select GV codecs via HOS."

Yes you can. However, you must created the Vdub render template. Here's a link to a short demo I prepared yesterday for another forum member. Although the demo is using AviDub, you can also use ImportAssist once the template is created.

I see that Joelson just posted the same thing while I was writing this.

thank you for the many posts
I once uploaded a file
I think I'll try MagicYUV and if it does not work the GrassValey HQX.

OK got it working.   'Import Assist' ran before I fully set up the framesever. Then followed JF's demo and ran directly via the framesever. Can't access dropbox.  Access denied.

Tend to use VP for compositing so luckily not many files to convert. Rendering a few files via a direct render from VP render is quicker. However for a large batch HOS could render overnight.

Your prompt attention most appreciated.

Quick question - When rendering using the Loop option, I notice that the filename gets appended with "Frame 123 to 456" for example. Is there any way to turn that off so I don't need to rename the file after the render?

wwaag wrote on 3/17/2019, 4:14 PM

@MikeLV

"Is there any way to turn that off so I don't need to rename the file after the render?"

At the moment, no. Since you can do multiple loop renders from a single long event, I needed someway to identify exactly where the render came from. I'm open to suggestions as to how this could be improved.

MikeLV wrote on 3/17/2019, 4:25 PM

What do you mean by "multiple loop renders from a single long event" ?

You can only have one loop region defined on the timeline right?

On this project I'm working on, I'm using different script settings for different events. So for example, the first few events, I really have to fine tune, and then I render them via loop region. But then for the next many events, they're all going to have the same settings, but I can't do render regions, because then it will start over from the beginning.

What would be helpful is having the option to select regions as you have it, but maybe an additional setting to start rendering from the cursor position.
