I was asked a similar question on the CC forum and here was my reply.

At the moment, the answer is "I don't know". It all depends upon how much demand there seems to be and whether there are significant problems uncovered during testing. Assuming there aren't too many problems and there is a reasonable demand, then licenses would be made available for purchase. If lots of problems emerge, the beta period would probably be extended. Sorry I can't give a more definitive answer.

Glad to see this toolset is going public now. Be sure this one is a way, way better render solution than my former Vegas2Handbrake workflow which unfortunately was filled with several kinds of stumbling blocks such as cumbersome installation process and limited handling possibilities.
Also the Happy Otter Scripts toolset is much more than just a renderer due to the way it integrates ffmpeg, Avisynth and VirtualDub.

So far after installing the Happy Otter Scripts (HOS), I downloaded your tutorials for Slow Motion and Stabilization. My comparisons are far from scientific just a one after the other or side-by-side viewing and first impressions.

I compared the slow motion between ProDad ReSpeedr, Twixtor and HOS. My impression was that HOS was better than ReSpeedr and almost as good as Twixtor.

I compared the stabilization between Sony Vegas Stabilize (I think that is version 1 or 2 of Mercalli), Magix Vegas Video Stabilization, Mercalli 4 Vegas Plugin, and HOS. My impression was that HOS was far better to use than Sony Vegas Stabilization (no surprise there), far better than Magix Video Stabilizer, and as good as Mercalli 4 Vegas Plugin.

I rendered comparison samples in HOS by simply fallowing the step and settings as in the tutorials, and pretty much the default setting in the other Sony, Magix, Twixtor and ProDad tools. Using the HOS stabilizer I did need to apply a slight amount of cropping to eliminate a very slight black border left after processing, but the results was I had more viewing area left than any of the others, a small price to pay for avoiding the deep cropping from Sony or Magix stabiliation and even a small increase in viewing area compared the the Mercalli 4 Plugin.

Next I interested in the rendering options. At this point I hope the interest and further development will bring these tools to the market. Great job Wayne, Thank You.

The slow motion of Happy Otter Scripts (HOS) is much better than the native slow motion of Vegas.

In the test I did I obtained results similar to Twixtor Pro.

The gold standard is slow motion derived from high frame rate capture.

I used media shot at 120 fps to generate a comparison of Happy Otter results to the results from having real frames. In Vegas Pro 14, I decimated the 120 FPS source to 30 FPS by rendering in a 30p project to a lossless codec with no resample set. Here is the comparison of the two methods used to make the video one fourth of normal speed:

John, Thank You for the time to post the 120 fps comparison. I think it looks pretty good. Out of the 1019 frames of your clip comparison I counted 12 frames that were off from the original that can be caught with the attentive naked eye, 268, 520, 521, 652, 656, 660, 784, 944, 948, 949, 952, 956. There are a few other frames off, but not by very much. And, the water reflections and shadows add challenges to adding accurate frames.

Try this. Go to the tools4vegas website and send an email using the contact form just to make sure that the email part is working correctly.

It maybe because I use VPN for captcha. My original network can't reach the captcha.
