Help for parameters editing and refresh color/contrast

RIKO14 wrote on 12/2/2024, 1:10 AM

I just finished my video editing with VEGAS PRO 17.0 and a lot of things don't satisfy me.

My equipment:

Shooting and photography with the OLYMPUS TG6 with housing and headlight for underwater shots.

Software: VEGAS PRO 17.0 (build 284)

My PC: LENOVO G70-70 Processor: i7-4510U CPU @2.00GHz 2.60 GHz RAM: 8 GB Operating system type: 64-bit.

The PC manages to make short edits with some effects in 1080P, 4K video not possible.

Viewing the final rendering on SAMSUNG UE50J5100 TV

With my glasses there are lots of defects that I don't necessarily see without my glasses.

1-   Image quality, with a lot of grain in the image.

My video parameters :

My videos are taken in 1080 P 60fps, my PC is not powerful enough to edit 4k videos

My photos parameters :

I proceed as follows: First I create a movie per day, I try to reprocess the image (I'll come back to that later) and I generally remove the sound from each track. Then I edit the reprocessed films together with other transitions and the final music.

If I edit all my rushes at once, my PC crashes because there are too many effects to manage.

For the renderings of all my films, I use the following criteria :

QUESTION #1: The final result is not great, there is a lot of grain in the image in my opinion. How do I change the rendering settings so that I keep the initial rushes settings? And therefore have no loss of video quality between the source rush and the final rendering?

2-     Image may be too saturated.

To reprocess my underwater shots I only use this option:

This filter is quite simple in my opinion. I can't use any other filters.

QUESTION No. 2: After viewing the final rendering on the SAMSUNG UE50J5100 TV, do I find the colors a little too saturated? Don't you think? How do you recommend improving colors and contrasts?

3 - there is still white on the title outline :

I use the solution by @3POINT (https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/help-for-transition-et-transparent-text--147873/#ca929877) but the white color is stile on the title outline at the start of the transition.

How to remove it??

This footage is full color range but the TV wants limited video range. Be sure to add a levels Fx ("computer to studio RGB" preset) to the video output (Fx above the preview window).

For a workflow I'd fix the biggest problem first. Start with the exposure using a tool like color curves or levels. Brightness and contrast is a simple tool.

Then white balance. Do you have Colorfast 2 Fx (it comes with some versions of VEGAS)? I think it has a good white balance color picker.

If particular colors are too saturated try color corrector (secondary).

You may want to reduce noise next. VEGAS didn't have a tool to do this. I use NeatVideo. https://www.neatvideo.com/

At this point the file may be too difficult to edit directly so you could render it out. Magix Intermediate will have no quality loss. Then you can bring it back into the timeline, edit and export as HD 60fps 1080p footage using MagixAVC for example.

If the color on the TV is too saturated change it to filmmaker mode or a similar setting. I assume your computer monitor is calibrated. If not buy a calibrator (on sale now for Black Friday.) I have one like this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1770371-REG/calibrite_ccdis3hl_display_pro_hl_for.html

@RIKO14

For high quality renders, take a look at https://www.voukoder.org/, which is a free render encoding plugin for Vegaspro.

For easy autocolor/leveling, take a look at https://www.semw-software.com/en/autolevels/ which is also free and easily corrects levels and color shifts.

Probably you did something wrong with the transparent text, I get a clear result the way I explained:

@RIKO14 I see what you mean, when you fade in the background there is a white outline visible at the moment the background is black or when there's no background at all.

Solution to avoid this, is to create the fade IN of the transparent title (with background) by fading OUT a black solid color event on top of both tracks. See:

"Looks grainy" doesn't help us to understand or diagnose your problem.

@RIKO14 Try changing the text to black - transparent.

Software: VEGAS PRO 17.0 (build 284)

Why are you using such an early build of VEGAS Pro 17?

RIKO14 wrote on 12/4/2024, 9:42 AM

Hello,

Thank you for all your feedback.

Here is the Drive link of the first 6 minutes of my film which lasts ~ 40 minutes https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fpolMaqs43e-VumyAcY8MtjKRFCMLkBc/view?usp=sharing as asked by @mark-y

@3POINT and @Gid Here is how I did it :

This weekend I will try your solutions to make the white border on the fade disappear.

@VEGASDerek, This is a version that was given to me

@3POINT :

@RIKO14

I'll do that this weekend

@RogerS :

Sorry, but your explanations are not clear to me who am not a professional and who only uses VEGAS PRO 17 a year.

I don't know if my computer monitor is calibrated, I don't know how to do that and I'm not going to buy a calibrator for very occasional use.

I'm going to look this weekend if I have Colorfast 2 Fx, I don't know anything.

In fact I don't have any noise or very much with the original rushes so I tell myself that if I managed to make the renderings without any loss compared to the rushes that would suit me more than enough.

I posted higher my initials video parameters et photos parameters,

Here 's my parameters of final video.

Do I have to change the criterials parameters :

I have the impression that the rendering is compressed and therefore the grain and noise.

@RIKO14 Is this copy of VEGAS you were given a cracked version?

3POINT wrote on 12/4/2024, 11:13 AM

@RIKO14 Since this forum doesn't support users of cracked or pirated Vegas versions, I will wait with further recommendations till you answered @VEGASDerek question.

Sorry, that is not helpful and is not what I asked for. Best of luck; I think others here may be better clued in to your real problem.
