I cannot see my videos in the media section of vegaspro or the preview

Isaac-Anderson wrote on 9/1/2021, 5:35 PM

I can import my clips into the media section but it just says mp4 it does not show a preview of the video. When I drag it into the editing part I cannot see the video either just the audio. And I cannot see the preview of the video in the top right when it is playing. It is just a black screen

Probably unsupported codec of MP4 media. Where this MP4 media coming from?

Perhaps the fastest way is to retranscode using https://handbrake.fr/

yes that is it. I just hit windows g and then hit record last 30 seconds

No trouble on my system, and quickly seeing these data - should be a standard AVC of MP4.

@Isaac-Anderson, allow me to repost the screenshot you are sending via PM here so other users also can give a thought of your problem:

not in the top left where it shows the mp4, not in the actually editing bar, and not in the preview

And you are using Nvidia k4000 graphics card

Have you turn on the legacy AVC? If it is, turn it off to test:

how do you get to legacy avc? sorry im new to all of this stuff

set wrote on 9/1/2021, 7:34 PM

hmm...not easy to solve... if what you record is last 30 secs of gameplay, then the file should be small enough. Can you upload to google drive / dropbox / etc and share link here ?

(please don't upload the file here in this forum as it will change the original file).

Just need to confirm if the media works ok or not on other system.

Try go to Options>Preferences>Video tab: GPU Acceleration of video processing: set it as OFF, so that your Graphics card, Nvidia k4000 is not used.

Cannot promise all solution we share work instantly - but let's try one by one.

*I'm not Nvidia user, so not know the family range products.

The other alternative is also check if your GPU card driver is also up to date.

ok, i turned off my graphics card and it sort of worked. But I still cannot see the video in the top right. Now I can see it in the edit bar, and the top left just not the right. I tried to hit view, window, video preview but it just popped up a little box not in the actual corner.

Did you install any kind of codec pack like K-Lite etc? Not sure if those are affecting this.

@Isaac-Anderson, this is the screenshot you are sending it via private message to me:

In this (my) morning, I just thinking if you are missing the Trimmer & Video Preview window, and after rechecking again, just right.

View>Window>Video Preview to turn on again that video preview.

You can also 'reset' the User Interface layout to Default:

View>Windows layout > Default layout

If the video preview has return, now try turn GPU acceleration back on again to test.
