Imported and rendered video are black and white

So I began to use Sony Vegas just today and started working on a video that I've been waiting a long time to make, but when I imported the clips, which were converted from .flv to .mp4 after being recorded through obs, the preview was in black and white. I ignored this at first and worked all night on the project, then began to render it. I didn't notice anything amiss, considering how my text, subtitles, images, and intro were all colored, but when it rendered, the whole video, minus those few things I just mentioned were all black and white. I don't think I added any black and white filters. I tried to open the video in another new file and start again but same result; black and white. Please help! I really want to make this work!

How are that .flv and .mp4 files playing on a Player?

Good? Than post a screenshot of your Vegas interface with such a file loaded.

Yeah, the player plays fine, and play in color and everything.

How did you convert the files from .flv to .mp4?

Can you share a sample .flv and/or converted .mp4 file on a cloud service?

A MediaInfo report for the .mp4 file would be useful.

I converted it through FLV Extract.

The MediaInfo for the .veg, .veg.bak, .sfk and .sfl files doesn't help. How did you get the media file into .mp4.mxf format? The webpage makes no mention of either mp4 or mxf.

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm new to this whole video editing thing so a lot of these terms fly by me haha. I converted the initial video that was recorded from OBS that was a flv file into a mp4 file through flv extract, then I rendered it through vegas.

NickHope wrote on 5/15/2017, 10:33 PM

So the MediaInfo of the mp4 file is the one that could be useful. But actually a sample flv file would be more useful so we could investigate other conversion methods. (or tell us exactly what OBS settings you used to record it)

Did FLV Extract give you an mp4 file by default?

If you don't see colour in the Vegas preview, rendering won't introduce any.

If you use OBS Studio in the future I recommend updating to the latest version and recording directly in x264/mp4 format.

So I tried doing exactly that and recorded it directly as .mp4 but with the same results. Came out as black and white.

Something in this might help you, such as disabling GPU acceleration or bypassing the compoundplug.dll.

Answers to those would enable us to help you more.
