Is it time to move from Vimeo to YouTube

Forgive me if this is OFF TOPIC but think it deserves a wide audience. I've been using VP for close to 20 years and posting my videos on Vimeo. I have a Vimeo Pro account paying $300/year for hosting. I am a hobbyiest not a pro,

After watching this video and experiencing some of the complaints the author mentions (i.e., Take Down notices and threats of closing my account), I am considering moving my nearly 500 videos to YT.

A lot of my videos are about my family. I'd like them to be available to future generations. I believe upon my passing and stopping $300/year Vimeo payments, my account will be closed and my video memories lost.

My YT research indicates that as long as my account remains in good standing (no copyright abuses, etc.), I can upload any number of videos and upon my passing, they will NOT be deleted.

Terms of Service can change at any time, but I would do it along with (I don't know how much media space would be needed), but storing on physical media. But with the prices increasing....

All my videos and photos are saved on a thumbdrives (SSD) that I give my children, so my memories won't be gone, but they will be more combersome to view.

Nothing is forever, but I'd like them to be available online for more than 1 year, which is what happens went I don't pay $300/year.

For greater security place your videos on both. Who knows what will happen to either service in the future. For long term security physical media is probably more reliable. Give each of your family a hard drive containing the precious memories.

As mentioned I'd put them on both, YT is free, I have 448 videos & my oldest is from 14 May 2013 + (You might not be interested in this) If you get over 1000 subscribers you can actually make a little money instead of spending money.

Also as mentioned we can't predict the future but as YT is owned by Google I don't see it going anywhere too soon & if it does get changed in some way there's way too many people on it who'd loose their 💩 if they lost their vids, so any change would need a 'rework/rebrand' or whatever rather than a complete closer... 🤷‍♂️,

If you only have one backup, you must immediately crate several backups, and preferably one or more backups on traditional hard drives.They are more reliable than SSDs.

I have moved away from Vimeo a long time ago... Actually due to platform blocking a long time ago, and stays only in YouTube now.
