Just upgraded to Vega 19 (424) and now it locks up a lot

I'm running a Win 10 machine with recent upgrades, 16GB of RAM. I upgraded to Vega 19 (424 version) from Vegas 14 and I have to say I'm not very impressed. The software is very laggy. And/or locks up and the timer wheel spins and spins and nothing happens. Any idea how I can stabilize this software? I have a project to edit and get out the door.

Your CPU, IGPU and GPU are too old and unsupported in Vegas Pro 19. I'd stick with a pre-VP 18 version until you upgrade your system.

That's what I was thinking the problem was. I have been looking at new machines, might be the time to pull the trigger. Thanks for your input. :)

So I uninstalled Vegas 19 and now I can't open any of my old Vegas files, even ones stored on an external drive. The error message states the file has been modified by a newer version of Vegas and cannot be opened. The files on my external hard drive were never opened by the newer version. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem??

Are you absolutely sure? When I run tests with newer versions, I name the test files as in the following example - and this has not been the case for me yet. .
File_01_Vegas18.veg
File_01_Vegas19.veg

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem??

Possibly install Vegas Pro 19 again - open Vegas Pro 18 and Vegas Pro 19 in parallel - copy the whole timeline in Vegas Pro 19 and paste it into Vegas Pro 18 and save it there.

Have you tried opening your Vegas files from File Manager? Right click on the veg file and select Open with...

NB I'm referring to the files you have not opened and saved in VP19 on your external hard drive.

Do you have backups from before you opened and resaved them in VP 19? If so revert to those. If not you need to do the copy and paste trick Walter mentioned.
