Keyframes in Pan/Crop not matching with Preview

mr.Z wrote on 12/11/2020, 5:35 PM

I was trying to create a 0.5 second animation using a white solid color (from 'Media Generators') and mask keyframes at start and end to form a reveal. The problem is it was quite choppy when I played it back--a flashy stutter movement instead of a smooth gradient flow. Is it because the masked keyframes from 'Pan/Crop' not aligning at the same time in the Preview?

Please see the attached pics (taken at each cursor movement to the right). Time at...

0.033 - 0.167 : white rectangle reveals but nothing shows up in preview window

0.200 - 0.334 : rectangle shows up in preview but not same size as in pan/crop

0.367 - 0.500 : full rectangle was held for all 4-5 frames

Can anyone show me how to fix it to get to a smooth reveal animation?

I think you did not place keyframes. You only moved the slider and changed the picture. Read the manual how to make and to place keyframes at Pan/Crop

@j-v I placed masked keyframes at the very beginning of the clip (0.000) and at very end of the clip (0.500)?

@mr.Z

I think you placed the keyframes but the size of your object does not match the size of your screen

That is why you get this

When I started it also took me a while to figure that out (I still don't like it)

Now I use picture in picture to adjust the size and mask that , much simpeler

By the way tutorials are working , just accept it to play

Yes, exactly - the link is embedded in the text above - but you would have to read a little bit ........😕

Right on! Once I changed the size of my solid color bar to the size of my screen, the mask is in sync with pan/crop and preview. I still need a smaller size though so I might try your method if I don't find it in the tutorials. Tysm😄

@walter-i. Works now, thank you!

@lan-mLMC Yes! The size in pan/crop wasn't the same with that of the screen
