Magix Vegas Pro Support Doesn't help with activation problems VP13

I have been trying to reactivate Sony Vegas Pro 13 for over a week now with virtually no useful support from Magix. After multiple attempts/emails to get them to resend my original activation email so I could start from scratch (I gave them the date of transaction and credit card number, but apparently it's too much to ask of them to just look up my email and resend it to me as its been deleted in my Gmail account) they just send back basic generic responses like "uninstall vegas and then reinstall and it will prompt for serial number again" this is of course a useless response, as it doesn't help. It still gives me a server error and takes me to a new page which asks for an activation code. I have fought the good fight trying not to go to Adobe PP, but if this is the best Magix can do for me then I guess Ill just have to bite the bullet learn how to use PP. Nothing I have asked for from Magix is difficult to do, just basic, simple help with a basic acitivation after reinstallation of their new flagship software as it was constantly crashing my system  and so far they have proven completely impotent at best and obstinate at worst. Either way, this has caused me at least 40 hours of lost production time. I wonder if anyone from Magix will see this post and attempt to help me resolve this issue, I won't hold my breath.

You talk about activation email. Do you need to do it in two steps? Can't you activate directly on line after entering the serial number?

This is incredible, I can't save a project, magix takes two days to respond and nothing they have suggested works. Why isn't there an option to just delete the software and reinstall it!!! I follow the simple instructions and it does NOT work!! I hate Sony for doing this!

I try to reinstall the software and it keeps telling me to buy it. I look in my account at Sony Creative and for some reason I have two different serial numbers for Vegas Pro 13, neither of which works. Is it really this complicated? Do they have any idea of what they are doing, I am losing hours and hours of production time.

Congratulations Magix, you bought some software from Sony only to kill it. No one in their right mind wil buy this crap. Looks like Adobe just gained a bunch of new customers!

MAGIX is currently implementing a web page which will allow downloading the former SCS products, and an activation system which will add the serial to your account, and activate using a MAGIX server.  This is currently not implemented as of yet but will be up and running in the near future.  In the meantime the download links on the SCS side are redirecting to the product pages on the MAGIX side.  Thank you for your patience as work is still being completed on this.

I tried reinstalling Vegas Pro 12 today and get exactly the same problem

Initiall response on running Trial has expired and if you have a serial enter and submit and the i just go round in circles

Thanks, at least I know it's not just me!

Wierd how all of these problems started soon after the software changed hands. Somebody messed up big time.

If anyone working with Magix is listening. DO SOMETHING!

NICK - tried that and I never found the folder with the license in it. - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Sony Creative Software > Vegas Pro > 13.0 > License

WAIT, Okay I'm stupid, I just tried to do it again and this time found the correct folder. THANK YOU NICK!

Those were the instructions I got from magix but I looked in the wrong folder in the registry.

Bottom line, it fixed the the problem.

That also worked for Vegas Pro 12

Install Vegas 12 and then follow george-giles instructions but obviously look for Vegas 12 not 13

I couldn't understand the problem because I had recently done a clean install of Windows and all apps with no activation problems. Of course I also had a clean registry, which is the at heart of the solution.
