Mask offset in PanCrop

Vitaly wrote on 3/10/2021, 7:44 PM

Hi all, I'm experiencing a mask offset in Pan/Crop. As you can see in the pictures, the mask and preview don't match. I can crop out the part I need by looking at the preview monitor, however, the mask will be off. To notice that, you'll have to zoom in the mask in the Pan/Crop. Could anyone confirm/deny the issue, please?

Vegas Pro 18 (Build 434), Win 10 64, NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030, RAM 32 GB.

Thanks,
Vitaly.

The time position doesn't match.

@Marco. - Where are you looking?

I think he thinks that the cursor synchronization is not turned on

Grazie wrote on 3/11/2021, 2:23 AM

@walter-i. Ah, righto. However.... there has to be another variable “lurking” as all the positions are the same - yes?

Marco. wrote on 3/11/2021, 3:13 AM

First thing I'd do is to synchronize both timelines to ensure frames shown in the preview and the Pan/Crop editing window are the same.

If this doesn't help I'd try setting the size of the project properties to the size of the source media (which doesn't match either, here).

@Marco. Ah, could that be the “other” variable, I was referring to? And yes, do the Sync thing too.

Yep, it was the cursor sync that needed to be on. It works as it should, now. Thanks averyone! It's my first week with Vegas :)

@Grazie
"Variable" is a big word. 😄

But not when scrutinised under the Lazer-like gaze of @Marco..

Nah, that’s not a big word. This is a big word: pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

I am just curious:
Why do you need so many FX "Color Corrector(Secondary)" ?

Why do you need so many FX "Color Corrector(Secondary)" ?

A very good observation @walter-i. . I can't think of a time when I've used more than two CC (Secondary) - one for addressing the highs and the other for addressing the lows. And notice that the R arrow indicates that there are more FX in the chain. And there's already Color Grading at the beginning of the chain. Very complicated and perhaps 'over-cooking' it.

Graide Color Curves might be an alternate solution for multiple color corrector Secondaries....

It was my attempt to do a primary color correction. You know, hue vs. hue, hue vs. sat... But it turned out the "Color Corrector (Secondary)" is a wrong tool for that.

Yes, Graide Color Curves seems like a right tool. I wonder, if there are more options out there. Actually, is there such a website that lists all plug-in makers for Vegas?
