Motion Tracker for a beginner

BlackOps wrote on 2/6/2026, 2:28 PM

Hi everyone! I used Movavi 23, but it lacked features. So today I bought Vegas Pro 23. Actually I only need one feature at the moment. Let's say I want to colorize a small detail on the screen. I don't need censoring or blurring, but rather a specific color—white, blue, red, etc. These scenes usually last 2-3 seconds. Could I do this manually for each frame for greater precision? This might be a stupid question, but I hope you can at least give me some idea of where to look for this feature.

@BlackOps Hi, I don't think the tracking in Vegas has changed a lot for a while so the links in Tutorials at the head of this page should still be relevant in VP23.. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/tutorials-search/?query=Motion%20Tracking

Vegas tracking will place an image/video (Picture in Picture) &/or add a a Bezier mask. for what you want you might want one or both.

2 seconds @ 30fps is 60 frames! ,

Tracking might be your better option to at least get you most of the way there, you can then go along & refine it..

I need a Bezier Mask and Motion tracker

Thank you!

By the way, thanks again! I figured out the program a bit, and this Bezier mask is exactly what I need, even without a motion tracker, everything is great.

Sorry for asking here, it's not a big problem for me, but still. When I add movies to the program, it freezes. Just regular movies with an AVC video track and AC3 audio. If I add the video I created in another program, Vegas Pro works fine. Is this an unsupported format, or am I doing something wrong?

@BlackOps Sorry I can't answer that as I don't have VP23, you're prob better off creating a new post about that issue 👍

@BlackOps You can use a dynamic mask defined by color, saturation, and/or brightness to affect only the mask area. It's not motion tracking per-se but it'll follow the defined parameters as they move in a video... Color Correcter (Secondary). I've done exactly what you describe by duplicating the clip and applying the FX to the copy on the top track, placing Colorize or any other color tweaking fx after it in the chain. The Show Mask box highlights the area and Invert controls whether everything except the defined mask area is affected instead.

I'll try it, thank you!
