Motion Tracking

Chris-Staudt wrote on 12/22/2021, 12:15 PM

I'm running Vegas Pro 18 on Windows 10.

I'm new to Motion Tracking and very frustrated with it right now. Despite reading the meager help file, I can't get it to work with a Bezier mask I created. Sometimes I create the mask and choose Bezier mask from the Motion Tracking dialog but it doesn't track; today, Bezier Mask doesn't even appear in the Motion Tracking dialog box. I searched the help file, but it has nothing about Motion Tracking except an incomplete mention under Bezier Masking. At times, options and icons are greyed out (non-functional) when I don't think they should be. Obviously, I'm missing something(s), but how do I find out what they are?

I haven't used it for a while now, but under Vegas Pro 18 these tutorials have helped me a lot:

PS: make sure you're using the latest build (527) in Vegas Pro 18, as there have always been updates.

Thanks, Jack, but yes, basic. I should have specified that I'm trying to motion-track a scarf landing on a piano bench because I foolishly shot a red and green scarf on a green screen background and I want to fill in the green holes with green color from solid color media behind the clip. (I guess I was so ticked off at the Help file being so unhelpful that I didn't state the objective.)

So basically, I want to motion-track a Bezier curve that moves and changes shape with the scarf video, then apply that set of shapes to a solid color on another track. I understand the principles, but when I create a curve and tell it to motion track, it creates all the keyframes but the shape doesn't change. I would alter them manually (it's a pretty short clip), but any change I make to points on the curve are made to all the frames. As such, it's basically useless.

VEGAS Motion tracking lack 1 ability, which is the ability to change/conform the tracking/mask with the tracked data.

So ur best option is to manually roto (mask via Pan/Crop) frame by frame.
