Multicam corrections

Hi There,
After working with Premiere Pro for many years i switched to Vegas Pro 17. It takes some time to get used to the differences, but i'm quite happy so far.
Most of my work contains multicam editing and it works quite good in VP. But how can ik change an sync error when i allready enabled multicam editing? The orignal video tracks disapear so i can't make any changes if i made a sync error in a videoclip?
Am i missing something? I didn't include audio in the multicam and when i 'add the missing stream for selected event' i have the orignal video back but when i shift it so that it is in sync nothing happens on my multicam track.
Does anybody have a tip? In Premiere a can do anything i want in a multicam edit.
Greetings from Holland!

Hi Boekiwoeki.

You only use the multicam option to create your edits, after you are done with that you switch back to "Expand to Multiple Tracks" for refinements etc. Color corrections etc. such as FX is best done via Media FX in the Project Media Tab.

@Boekiewoekie Workflow can help. I do audio mixing 1st with just my A-cam and render out a mix track that stays for every project stage thereafter. I do multicam alignment next using camera audio tracks only for alignment and adjusting their position to align with mix track. The cams I use all tend to split their clips every 5 to 10 minutes. So after the alignment stage I do a continuous clip render to intermediate for each camera video track which glues them together... no color or exposure matching yet so it goes fairly quickly. Multicam edit/cuts are done in the next stage using the intermediates. Often during the multicam cuts I find some audio or video issues and have go back to a previous stage and fix them. I do this with a 2nd instance of Vegas so I can copy the time-position from one instance to the other and rapidly find the spot. Upon completing the re-render and closing the 2nd Vegas instance, the original instance sees it's audio or video track has changed and updates itself automatically. There's a Vegas general option to close media files when not the active app.. I think that needs to be enabled to work this way. After the multicam stage I expand the multicam track back to camera tracks to do the track-to-track matching. Works for me. Hope it gives you some ideas.

Hi J-V,

Thnks for your reply. I get what you're saying, but it would be very helpfull to do some corrections in multicam mode. (Like moving the video a few frames so that it's in sync again. That's a very strong feature of Premiere i think.

Hi Howard,

Thanks for your reply! Our workflows are pretty much te same.

I think that a second instance can be a workaround for me. Sounds like a good idea and i will try. (after my current multicam project is finished. :-)
