Multicam editing messed up everything after what I was working on.

Vegas Pro 20.0 Build 411

Multicam issues.

I have placed in all the video and audio tracks of all the takes, this is spread out over several hours of time. My workflow of the past is I look at what is here, clip out what I want and assemble the clips as I want.

I saw in Vegas pro that I can do muticam editing.I liked the idea. I selected three videos that were related out of the hundreds. The editing did wonderful. I then wanted to leave multicam edit. Struggled with this for about half an hour but it looks like I finally got the "Expand to Multiple Tracks" to expand the three videos and it showed what I had selected and what I hadn't. All good.

But it appears the software grouped up ALL videos in the entire project and now after I expanded multiple tracks I can see them on the screen but when I try to play them the videos don't appear. They are at full opacity so that isn't the issue. But this kind of makes it not friendly to use. I got the multi cam of those three videos but if it is going to universally select all videos in the time line that will make a mess of things.

But this is the first time I have tried this so maybe you more seasoned users can tell what I did or is there another way to do it?

I selected the videos which I am guess selected the entire track and thus all the videos, so maybe I need to place all the ones I don't want to do multi cam with on other tracks so Vegas won't do anything to them? I don't know. Any advice?

Thank you

Douglas

My understanding of multicam is that it's track based so as you wrote you'd put the tracks/cameras you want to be in multicam together and then use the multicam feature to cut between them. If you want other events to show regardless of which of those cameras you choose you'd want them on their own tracks.

Maybe share a screenshot to make it easier to see what you are doing and where the problem lies.

@Douglas-McCarron Vegas does not do any grouping when you expand a multicam track. Wish it did. Because if I don't do it manually, I'll invariably & inadvertently alter alignment with a sloppy click. Tried sending them into a multicam track already grouped. But Vegas ungroups them on expansion. Btw, you need to select the multicam track by clicking on it first in order to expand it.

Well the videos were all on the same track and it did take all of them in and now I can't see the other ones after I turned off multi cam. So it do it.

Thank you Roger I will try that, and also get a couple screen shots.
