Version 22.0 (build 239).I've tried everything. I've restored the settings, uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing works. The funny thing is that until yesterday it was working normally.
@Rifane That's how it works, if you pressed pause instead of stop you'll see the Pan/crop cursor update to the synced timeline position. It doesn't play in sync,
---------------
I just tried VP18,19, 20, 21 & 22, they all work like n your video,
@Gid Seriously? I'm coming from Vegas 16 and it doesn't work like that. Pan runs together with Preview. And as I said above, it was working until yesterday.
When using key framing from within the VP 13 Pan/Crop tool, I know that the padlock will sync the main timeline and the keyframe timeline. But when I play a video, I want to see the keyframe timeline progress while the video plays, in the same manner that you can see the main timeline position indicator move while it plays. That way, during playback, I can see when a keyframe is coming up and when it is reached.
As it is, the sync only occurs, (i.e. the keyframe timeline cursor only moves), when starting or stopping playback, or when mouse clicking within either timeline while the video is stopped. Is it possible to get real-time update of the keyframe timeline cursor position while the video plays?
Wow, I'm going to have to adapt to this mode then. The Pan/crop preview moving along with the preview helps a lot in editing. I ended up finding another problem (or difference from VP16). When positioning the cursor in a certain location, I can't move a key frame to it, because when I click on the keyframe to move the cursor already appears on top of the key frame. Watch this video where I compare it with VP16
If you hit "Pause" instead of "Stop", the Pan/Crop cursor will jump to the location you pause.
I just tested in version 16 and it does NOT move when playing back the timeline either. It will if you SCRUB the timeline but not play the timeline.
To confirm, I also went back to version 14 and it also does not move when playing back the timeline.
It looks like the behavior is the same through the last 9 versions. Just for kicks, I tested in version 5 and it behaved exactly the same as well so that would take back another 9 versions.
Your second video shows something different - trying to SELECT a keyframe. When selecting a keyframe, it does now move the cursor to that keyframe position instead of just selecting the keyframe. I've run into this as well where I've placed the cursor where I want a keyframe to be moved to, select the keyframe to be moved, and the cursor jumps to that postion so now I have to remember roughly where I wanted to move the keyframe. I agree, that did not happen in 16 or 17. It does jump in 18 so that's when it changed.
I uninstalled 16 after installing 22, so I can't say for sure which build of 16 I was on, but yes, it worked as I said. I installed 16 here again, but it was the last build 424, and in fact the pan does not follow the preview. I'll try installing other versions to test.
This second problem is really annoying, I hope they solve it in future updates.
Thank you very much for your help, guys. From what I've seen, I'll have to adapt to the changes anyway.
@Rifane no version has every followed playback. However, I do agree that just clicking on a keyframe will move the cursor which is what your second video shows. But your first video is correct and shows how both 22 and 16 work and, as you can see, I tested multiple versions all the way back to version 5.
When positioning the cursor in a certain location, I can't move a key frame to it, because when I click on the keyframe to move the cursor already appears on top of the key frame.
@Rifane@jetdv@Reyfox Hi, place the cursor wherever you want, right click + drag the keyframe that you want to move, (right click doesn't move the cursor), you'll get a pop-up Move, Copy or Cancel.
@Gid, I just tried that. There was a keyframe at 15:31. I placed the cursor at 12:01, right-clicked the keyframe, and moved it until it snapped to the cursor, and chose "move". I then moved the cursor and clicked on the keyframe. The cursor moved to 12:02 so it wasn't an exact hit. Tried again with the cursor at 14:29, moved the cursor and clicked on the keyframe and it was at 15:00.
@jetdv Yep you're right, the clip I used in the video above is only 10secs long so I just tried it again on a longer 6.30min clip. this time it was impossible to make it snap correctly even when zoomed in.... I've seen this before but I work on a 32" screen with a grumpy mouse & always put it down to user error..
I'm going to experiment with this, I didn't have snapping on but even with it on it still wouldn't snap correctly....
Edit - Snapping was on in Options - Enable Snapping but not the magnet button in Pan/Crop, I've tried turning these on/off in different configurations but still get the same results as the video in this comment..
Guys, thank you very much for your help, however I found another problem. When I click on the beginning of a media, nothing is shown in the preview and I have to move several frames so that they can be applied. Is this really an error or some configuration?
@Rifane I'm not seeing that with my media. Could it be that video clip itself? If you want to upload a short file that does that on a file sharing site, we can test it. All the media I have recorded is showing on the first frame.
