My Review of Vegas Pro 15

I have used Vegas for many years and it is a solid program for video editing. It seems that those who don't like it had issues of some sort or the other, but I have rarely experienced those problems, and unfortunately, if the problem can't be replicated, then it suggests a problem specific to that user. And like the other users, I can only speak from my experience with the program, which has been good.

It is important to keep in mind that Vegas 13 was an excellent program, but unfortunately, Sony had other plans and stopped developing the program and essentially left it by the wayside while they focused on the Catalyst Suite, which, in my opinion, was a disaster. After Sony sold Vegas to Magix, Magix had a lot of catching up to do, which included adding GPU-accelerated rendering, ACES color correction, and many other features to the program. And again, unfortunately, new development causes bugs and of course, with so much development to do, there were bound to be bumps in the road along the way. With Vegas 15, the first build had issues but by the time of the last build, it was a very stable and reliable program. I have edited hundreds of hours of video with Vegas and rarely does it crash or freeze. I have honestly had more problems with Resolve and Premiere crashing on me than Vegas.

I don't think you will be able to find a more intuitive and stable program than Vegas Pro. I love it and recommend it. I'm sorry people are having issues with it, but they can only offer their experience the same as I can offer mine, and mine has been unquestionably good. I am glad Magix took over the program and keeps adding new features to it.

The last build of V15 is very stable. If someone is saying it isn't, it is more than likely an issue with that person's system. For example, they don't have the most recent graphics driver installed or there something going on with the source files. The truth is there are so many things it could be, it is easy to blame the software. And if it is the software, then the bug should be reported to Magix so they can fix it.

I haven't been using Vegas Pro 16 long (only about 2 months), but I just wanted to say that I have had a very similar experience. It took me a few weeks to get used to it (since I spent the last 5 years in Premiere) and I have had fewer crashes/freezes with Vegas than I did in any 2 month period with Premiere. I can't speak for everyone's hardware set up but for me, it is the most stable NLE I've ever used. Thank you Magix for bringing this amazing NLE back to life (after Sony abandoned it.)

+1

Also, I'm mostly satisfied with version 15 in terms of stability and functionality. I'm not (yet) using VEGAS 16 because I do not (yet) need the new features.
So I'm going to wait until the next version, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Vegas 17 brings.
Maybe a flexible organizer for FX?

I am doing much less video since I am now "fully" retired. However I've found that the really unique market position of Vegas is it's intuitive use. I'm on 16 and it really does everything I need. Being retired I'll probably upgrade only every other release as I do with Samplitude. Both are very good products that for me make my video and sound (now a hobby) efforts as easy as this stuff gets.

My "retired" comment. I started with VP14Edit Humble Bundle, so am a late comer to VP. After a couple of weeks using it (compared to the other editors I have on my computer), I fell in love with it and upgraded to 15 Suite. Final patch and it just keeps editing. Now, with 16 Suite, so much to explore and it's been pretty solid for me.

I too don't edit as much as I used to, but I have to say, editing in Vegas is a joy for me. I've ignored VP for years because of the "ugly" interface. But now? Yeah, I tell others. They say, "oh, but Resolve is free". It is. And its a good editor, but... you better have the hardware and be ready to spend time learning. VP? I caught on real quick and am still learning and amazed by what it can do.
