NewBlue Titler Pro 7: Anyone using this with Vegas?

@MikeS I was referring to the Magix TFX7 version which is for Video Pro X and Magix Movie Studio. I don't know if that one is specifically for Magix only. I do have TFX7 and everything works including transitions and stabilizer.

@studio-4  Personally, i simply just stay away from Newblue Titler Pro because of the many instability issues i had with it in the past.

Reyfox wrote on 6/7/2023, 7:31 AM

Possibly. Or they could have just removed the transitions and stabilizer from it. I guess the only way to know for sure is to ask Newblue FX.

@Steve_Rhoden NewBlue is actively working to resolve all reported issues with VEGAS.

The NewBlue TotalFX Magix Edition does not include transitions and stabilizer because it only supports Magix Video Pro / Movie Edit Pro.

I think because the VPX/MMS user base is not very large, NewBlue is reluctant to spend too much resources to make transitions and stabilizer compatible with VPX/MMS.

I got my second licence for NBFX's TotalFX7 with the MAGIX Movie Edit Pro offer back in February 2022 and both transitions and stabiliser appear and work in Vegas Pro 20 on my laptop. But then I don't have Movie Edit Pro installed on that computer - only TotalFX from that offer which was delivered (downloaded) separately at the time.

@Dexcon I have the same TFX7 as you do, when it was offered with Magix software. But transitions and stabilizer do not appear in Magix software. Users posted about it when it was first offered.

So my guess is that they just removed transitions and stabilizer from the Magix version of TFX. Whether this particular version will work with Vegas, I have no idea. But I can't see NBFX editing code to make it only work with Magix. Just removing from the download installer transitions and stabilizer would be much easier.

@sonicvision, besides the additional templates, the only one who would actually know would be @jetdv. I was disappointed at first that you could not play back your video in the plugin, but scrolling through it was ok for me.

There are other users in the forum that hated TP7 and said so and why. One is @Grazie, who went back to TP6.

@sonicvision, I recommend you contact NewBlue Tech Support (support at newblueinc.com) and ask the question. I don't have an actual list of new features.

I was just looking for a way to enhance my titles/text presentation in my vidoes and came accross this thread.
I don't know if there are regular offers/deals, so asking you :)

Is the 54% off deal on the MAGIX Video Pro X14 a good deal?
https://www.magix.com/us/video-editor/video-pro-x/new-features/

As far as I can see it includes the NewBlue Titler Pro 7 which is far more costly.

Does this work as a plugin to Vegas Pro? It looks like its standalone...

@YodaVonBeck, that is the question. Will the Magix NBFX TotalFX 7 sans transitions and stabilizer work with Vegas? I don't know. I do know that Titler Pro 7 does work within Magix Movie Edit Pro (MMS) and if it works there, it will work within VPX. I don't know if you also get the standalone version of TP7. Best email NBFX and ask.

Is it a good deal? Only you can decide that. You do get Video Pro X14. I'd download a trial version to see if you like editing "upside down". It does come with a lot of templates.

Notice that the TotalFX7 offer has some fine print:

* NewBlue TotalFX – MAGIX Edition is included upon purchase of new software, or when you upgrade Video Pro X. This Edition is supplied without stabilizer and transitions.

A similar MAGIX offer was with MAGIX Movie Studio early last year but the stabiliser and transitions did come with that offer. All FX/transitions work in Vegas Pro - including Titler Pro 7. Whether this is the same with the X14 offer is not known. Maybe ask at Video Pro X's forum at https://www.magix.info/us/video-forum/movie-studio+video-pro-x/ to see if anybody knows or can test.

I will say that, generally speaking, all current bundles are not limited to a specific NLE nor a specific version of that NLE unlike many bundles from the past.

sonicvision wrote on 6/8/2023, 9:45 PM

I did a quick trial of the full TotalFX 360 (latest version) and, really, there is almost no difference from my TotalFX 5. A couple of fx, and I mean like 2, if that, and the near titler which does have additional templates etc, and, more importantly to me, the option to turn off title sharing in the preferences bit not enough for me to pay the $139 for VPX. I will wait and see if they ever add, or update, anything significantly (now that it's called "360" maybe never know if/when updated significantly unless try trials every year).

My TotalFX 5 works good enough, and I never use the Vegas built in titlers as just fine Titler Pro works quick and easy.

@sonicvision No point rocking the boat & spending money 👍👍 for me it was a 'fix' as much as anything, I had a few NB packages collected over the yrs, they didn't always work or on some the red cross would appear for no reason, I'd have to go through each reactivating or just accepting that it wouldn't work,

So before buying & installing TotalFX i removed the others & have no intention of reinstalling, I just have one activation to deal with, & i don't think i had TP before so getting TP7 in TotalFX is fine for me.

sonicvision wrote on 6/8/2023, 10:12 PM

@Former user that authorization app is bizarre. Yours show things I have even though they are all in the package, and usable in NLE. I too uninstalled all and fresh reinstalled my TFX. :)

@sonicvision Yeah it's not an easy one to fathom, You'd presume TotalFX is everything & that is what it says on the NB website, but it's not that easy to check, if you go to the packages page - Stylizers there's items I didn't have before & I still don't have now, so either there website needs updating or ... 🤷‍♂️

This is what shows in Vegas & the same is in Magix, I'm not going mess around with it, I've got what I had before (I think) 👍

sonicvision wrote on 6/9/2023, 5:09 PM

Got an answer from NBFX that there is no more Total FX7 and won't be an 8. It's Total FX 360 now, subscription or perpetual, and gets updates as and when they see fit.

Still on TP4. TP7 offer looks good. Couple of questions.

1) To use TP7 is it necessary to uninstall TP4?

2) Will TP7 be able to pick up work done in TP4?

Have just taken system image so now would be a good time to update.

@diverG I have TP7 with NBFX TotalFX7. For me, I had to uninstall every version of Titler Pro installed on my computer to get TP7 to work. That included versions of TP5 that were included in another editing software I have. But TP7 also has a standalone, so it was no problem if I would need it to do a title for the other software, which I seldom if ever use.

@diverG  ... My experience over about 10 years with NBFX Titler Pro (going all the way back to version 1) is that a new TP version always overrides an earlier installed version. Titles created in an earlier TP version have always been accessible in the new version (NB: I've not done a 3 version leap though).

I urge you to DL and install the trial version of TP7 to test it out for yourself ... and for another important reason. The way that TP6 and 7 work in Vegas Pro is substantially different to that of TP5 and earlier - TP6/7 are much less user friendly than TP5 and earlier. In TP7's workspace after doing anything to the title (e.g. moving, re-sizing) can take a while to update on VP's preview screen while TP7 "thinks about it". It is so annoying! This has been discussed on the forum many times over the years and there are some who have gone back to TP5 where the "thinking about it" problem doesn't occur.

With this in mind, it would be a good idea to trial TP7 before buying (even at a good price) to see if you are happy with TP7 in comparison to TP4.

1) To use TP7 is it necessary to uninstall TP4?

2) Will TP7 be able to pick up work done in TP4?

1. Technically, no. But it certainly does not hurt to do so. Titler Pro 7 will overwrite Titler Pro 4 anyway but it often helps to make a clean install. If you choose to go back to Titler Pro 4, please do uninstall Titler Pro 7 before reinstalling Titler Pro 4.

2. Yes. That's why versions replace other versions. That way it will be picked up automatically in VEGAS.

One thing you might need to do is clear the cache in VEGAS. Otherwise, you may be using Titler Pro 7 but the Generated Media list show you are adding Titler Pro 4.

... My experience over about 10 years with NBFX Titler Pro (going all the way back to version 1) is that a new TP version always overrides an earlier installed version.

Titler Pro 2 actually installed separately from Titler Pro 1. However that led to many issues with people having both versions installed and titles added into project did not automatically "upgrade" to version 2 from version 1. You actually had to create a new version 2 title, save the version 1 title, open the version 1 title in version 2, and then delete the version 1 title. Because of this, all subsequent versions (3 through 7) have replaced the previous version so this would not be necessary.
