No audio meters after latest Vegas build install

RedRob-CandlelightProdctns wrote on 12/17/2025, 8:10 AM

I just installed the update and suddenly my audio meters have no action.

This applies to both the track meters and the master Bus output -- nothings moving there at all (as if it's not playing or silent) but I can both see the Video Preview fine, and hear the audio in my ears/output.

Things look and sound fine -- just not meters action.

I closed and re-opened the program -- nada. Likely will roll back to the prior release.

Anyone else experiencing this?

UPDATE: Still happens on my main project but on new project I'm seeing the meter action again. I'll have to noodle to find the culprit

In a simple project (one piece of media on the timeline) the meters work as normal here.

It's fine here. Is Show Audio Meters checked when you right-click on a track?

I see the meters. There is just no movement on them.

No movement on the master bus meters either. just tried full reboot.. same behavior.

Just dropped my 1080p60 render into a new project and the meters show. I'll dig a bit deeper to find out what the culprit is and report back (and submit bug report).

I'm also hearing clicking on that same project when I drop in my MP4 1080p60 render on the top (which I do for DVD re-renders [yes.. ppl still want DVDs] usually for a variety of reasons). Something wonky.

Is this on your laptop with Nvidia GPU. If you are using 591 driver try going back to 581. 591 caused many issues with my PC.

RX470, not Nvidia.

Weird -- on the project where I have no meters --- I started deleting tracks... with no audio tracks but one and just a few video tracks, still no meters. Then I deleted all but one video track and one audio track and meters started functioning. Then undid to put those tracks back... and meters are working fine.

To repeat: No meters were moving. I deleted tracks and the meters started working. I undid that to put those deleted tracks back, and the meters still are working.

It seems inconsistent now --- no meters moving, then I delete a video track and they work.. then I put the track back.. they still work.

Something wonky but alas, I can't find any pattern, rhyme or reason.

"Working" -- well, unpredictable, at least in that project. When I have a minute or 3 I'll try to see if it's repeatable.
