Noise Reduction options

Hello,

I have the Noise Reduction 2.0 plugin. Still works fine.

But, I'm curious if there are other options out there?

I'd particularly like something that automatically analyzes the audio and applies intelligent noise reduction as needed. Maybe with very simple inputs like a dropdown for light, medium, or heavy reduction.

Something a little more like how Auphonic works.

Any thoughts?

Jeff

iZotope's RX has an adaptive mode.. I have not tried it though. I suspect it would NOT be as effective as a specific noise print. iZotope 'RX' and 'RX Advanced' are costly. The low cost version, RX Elements is included w/ SF Pro 12.

I have RX Elements and it does an excellent job of reducing noise. This comparison test pretty much sold me on iZotope http://audio.rightmark.org/lukin/restoration/spectrum.htm. RX was the only one that really got rid of the noise completely.

If you get RX elements, if you follow these instructions, it can then open your audio files directly from inside Vegas, which is pretty cool.

Yeah, I was looking at that ReaFir one closely, but it looks like it is a paid plug-in now. It's only $60 but I'd heard so much positive about RX7 and like Nectar Elements a lot, I decided to go with RX7. I was doing some experiments last night and it does work well. I have tried previous NR systems but always had to limit the amount of reduction in order to avoid that metallic waterfall sound. The advances they are making with NR is amazing. Now using machine learning algorithms and can even interpolate on distorted clips to fill in what it might have sounded like. Kind of like content-aware fill with Photoshop, but now with sound. So crazy.
