The driver works also for my laptop with an RTX 3070 Ti. Please check in the public driver description for which product it works (I assume, you will find the 4070 also, but I have not checked that).

Thanks for that, if you can confirm that (please double check preview Fx too) I'd suggest filing a bug report with NVIDIA as there are now two reports of issues with 40XX mobile GPUs. They think the problems are solved and need to now if they are not.

@RogerS: Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by preview fx.

I've been shooting timelapse videos with a GoPro for several months---1 image every 30 seconds. I swap 64GB SD cards every 4 to 6 days & combine the images, so don't use any fx asside from pan/crop to create a 1080p version. I'll be doing this week's card swap in an hour or so...

I can try something else if you let me know.

Due to both errors in fx transitions (which use the nvidia GPU in Vegas if GPU acceleration is set to nvidia cards it preferences/view) but also render crashes when rendering to AVC I rolled back to nvidia driver 522.30 again.

Using this driver delivers at least transitions in the tendered footage that are free of errors.

And the render crashes - the render process stops suddenly, and nothing happens any more - made it hard to render a 34 minutes slideshow project, with a huge amount of transitions anyway.

The situation with Voukoder is not better really, since the errors seems to take place in Vegas, or the interface Vegas/nvidia GPU.

If when you apply an Fx you cannot see the result until you close the window that's a NVIDIA driver bug. The current gaming driver is supposed to fix it.

I am rendering a timelapse now and can confirm the preview is NOT working.

I have encountered the FX preview problem tinkering with some 3D video. I posted a separate thread on it and had a support ticket as well. The ticket was closed, but I never heard why.

I will revisit that project and report back in the next day or so.

I opened a 3D project, clicked the video display properties, and changed Stereographic 3D Mode. Normally the preview window should show the change immediately, but the change doesn't occur until I close the menu and play the video.

So it doesn't appear the new driver helps with my GPU.

It's really depressing and somewhat annoying that this Nvidia driver issue can't be fixed. It has been months now, then Nvidia comes out with a partial fix but no Studio driver. Using a Studio driver is important for other software I have (for instance Resolve) since that driver is optimized for Creative Content.....more stable, and my machine is a bit faster.

RogerS wrote on 9/3/2023, 9:52 AM

The Studio driver release schedule is always slow. I'm waiting for that to update myself.

I don't think there's an actual difference between the drivers when the versions #s are the same.

Thanks Roger. I appreciate your comments. They're always very logical. There is a major difference between the studio and gaming drivers according to multiple sources I've read. Maybe it wouldn't make much difference in Vegas though. However in DaVinci Resolve and Topaz Labs Video A1 it makes a big difference and those programs have been optimized to work with the studio drivers. And to drive the point, they work beautifully with Nvidia drivers and the latest ones.

I'm beginning to think that software developers perhaps pay extra to Nvidia to have drivers (or tweaked drivers) that work with their software. Perhaps they even collaborate more with Nvidia to develop stable drivers for their product. Why else would 99% of my programs, that are all for Creative Content, work with the latest optimized studio drivers, and Vegas is the only one that doesn't?? Of course that's speculation on my part.

RogerS wrote on 9/3/2023, 7:30 PM

I haven't seen claims by NVIDIA to that effect. What they promise is testing and stability on a mostly monthly release schedule that isn't affected by the launch of the latest games.

NVIDIA Studio Drivers are drivers that are specially designed for creators. They are released on a regular, longer cadence that matches major app launches, typically every month. This way your PC is ready every time your favorite app updates, but your work is not disrupted often. These drivers are extensively tested against the top creative apps to ensure that your system won’t have any issues. New updates unlock performance boosts and sometimes new features in creative apps, providing artists, creators and 3D developers the best performance and reliability.

They also don't seem to have a feature difference between driver types (presumably when they are at the same version number):

All NVIDIA drivers provide full features and application support for top games and creative applications.

https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4931/~/nvidia-studio-faqs

VEGAS also collaborates directly with NVIDIA and is listed as one of the Studio Driver partners. I use the Studio driver myself as it's available for my GPUs and I care most about stability.
