What is Easy Link Creator?
NickHope wrote on 6/2/2007, 12:52 AM
It creates links easily
AlanC wrote on 6/2/2007, 3:40 AM
Thanks Serena, you are quite right. (as usual)

I was never very good at decimals :~)

WOW!!! Thanks for the Easy LinkCreator, it's brilliant and works...EASY
NickHope wrote on 6/2/2007, 8:46 AM
So what actually is it?
Nathan_Shane wrote on 6/2/2007, 10:34 AM
Easy LinkCreator allows you to quickly and easily paste "clickable web links" into the forums here...otherwise, trying to accomplish that previously has always been a real pain. This small application just does all the work for you by allowing you to paste the web address, then give a text title to that link, it copies it you the Windows clipboard, and then you just paste it into you post like this:

Cool. I usually build a target="_blank" into my links to make my links open up in a new window or tab but i guess many people have got their tabbed browsers set up to do that automatically now or have got used to right click > open in new window

Yes Jim, very good. I wasn't expecting that so early in the morning.

I think the phrase is "hook, line and sinker!!!"

Hey Alan. I just looked up this post so that I could install your Easy LinkCreator on my current PC. Unfortunately it isn't there. Do you have a current link?
paul_w wrote on 1/15/2012, 10:16 AM

Hi Lawrence, if you send me an email address via the forum I'll send you a copy directly or if anybody else would care to host it please let me know (I don't have my own website)

http://www.jazzythedog.com is available for hosting. Send me an email.

I recall I downloaded the script at one time, but have lost it and the instructions for use.

Okie Doak, I asked Jazzy and he said he'd love to host Easy LinkCreator.

Here it is: http://www.jazzythedog.com/sharing/LinkCreator.zipLinkCreator.zip[/link]

That's http://www.jazzythedog.com/sharing/LinkCreator.zip for future reference.

Edit: One more thing, this is the first time I've used this program, but imho, a timesaver would be to create a Windows Keyboard shortcut to LinkCreator.exe - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Create-keyboard-shortcuts-to-open-programsCreate keyboard shortcuts to open programs[/link]

What a weird piece of software. Why go to a separate program, when all you have to do is type the link tag and paste the link to it?

It is easier to do it by hand than using an external program which is so obnoxious that it insists on being the top window over all other windows. Plus, it only works with this forum with its non-standard tags (every other forum on the planet uses the url tag instead of the silly link tag).

The program, though, seems potentially useful to the people who call IT support and ask where the Any key is.

Well it's been around for about 5 years now and made life just that little bit easier for quite a few people. It's use isn't compulsory.
