I hope I can answer your question .
I don't disagree with what your saying .I just probably don't post well.I certainly wasn't looking for respect . I don't know what catagory you are replying to but the human category would be the only catagory that I could see myself in with the people you refer to.
I guess people figure I was joking becuase I probably didn't express myself well with this language . If you want me to type In the Native language of Turtle Island I would be more than happy to . But it is hard to spell those words . So by reading your post I gather that I am the Joke .Well I don't need to post here If I can't get my point across. So It's been fun SIGNING OFF NOW FROM TURTLE ISLAND WERE THE RIVERS FLOW AND GRASS DOES GROW!!

Buster, you crack me up.

Jon, The reason you can't know the features beforehand is the same reason that Sony doesn't want their COMPETITORS to know the features, as well as the fact that some of the planned features may not make it into the current release, and you can imagine what kind of comments this board would be strewn with in that case.

As far as my training videos, as far as you knew until the end of this sentence, I have not seen Vegas 6 yet, and I am going to throw the training together right after the release (that's not the case though).

I think he was trying to show a continuum, but I didn't follow it either.

Does it help to argue at great length too?

Ok, I'm exausted after reading this thread. I've been on these Sony/Sonic Foundy forums probably longer than any of you. Go ahead and click on my username and see how far back you have to scroll to get to the first post I ever made.

I guess my point is, that of all the years I've been posting in these forums, I have never seen so many petty arguments. Sure I've gotten in arguments in my posts, but it was always a debate of how to do something in the app, and I always backed my side of the argument up with facts, so although you walked into an argument at least you could walk away with some information. Now I come back into this Vegas Video forum, to learn some things and I have to sort through 50 posts in a discussion to walk away with one solid piece of information.

This crap is frustrating. In this post, I feel like I've walked into a lesbian convention, where there's a bunch of women standing around complaining about their husbands, and in lesbian denial at the same time.

This kind of chatter seems to be only happening in the Vegas Video forum, where I also regularly visit the Vegas Audio, Sound Forge, Acid, and CD Architect forums. Maybe it's just the conflict between the technically oriented video editors, colliding with the artsy fartsy style editiors. Those two sides never really understand the other sides perspective. I think each and everyone of you are right in your side of the argument. I have Sonic Foundry to blame for all this conflict. If Vegas would have remained an audio only app as it was first intended to be when it was released, I wouldn't have to be listening to all these women bickering back and forth......because after all, real men do audio.

Oh BTW, welcome back "Outta_here"

:-)

I'll bet that if anyone else had a track record of publishing a "how to" book that Sony would have entertained a proposal for another beta tester and NDA. No software company is going to pull beta testers out of a hat - they go with those people who they know and trust. That's something that has to be earned, and it takes time.

Jon,

My intention wasn't to get you to leave the forums. You are not the joke.
I never said you weren't as good a person as the others mentioned.
Who knows, you might be a better person in life than those two, but that's not the issue. You've turned it around that way, but it was never implied.
You were basically asking... How come I don't have the same privileges as them regarding Sony software? So I answered MY VIEW as to why that is. That's all.
Stick around, this is a great forum.

Mario

PS: I didn't know there was conventions for lesbians!

Buster - "I'm here because my religion teaches me that arguing at great distance leads to enlightenment....." ... Best comment I've read in a long time - excellent work!!!

Can I make a plea to this forum? ... if certain people write in an inflamitory way, please ignore it, rather than perpetuate nonsense.

That is what I don't understand BB. If the only way I know this person is through this forum, what does it matter what they are really like. I am not here to become fast friends, I am here for information. People here, including you, have provided endless years of information. What do I care if they go home and play with model airplanes or speak badly about their dogs. I only care what they can provide me here. I don't understand why you think it is important to point out what they really are. :(

"This kind of chatter seems to be only happening in the Vegas Video forum..."

Perhaps if Billyboy would post more in the other forums, he could spread the cheer.

And now a few words from the snow-covered wilderness of Canada...

I find this forum very helpful and like the exchange of ideas and different experiences. There are usually several different ways that things can be done and I appreciate people offering their own versions.

I also appreciate finding out about training material from different vendors that relates to Vegas and any other aspect of digital video shooting, editing and production. It all helps.

If someone is engaged in what some might call shameless self-promotion, let me judge for myself. I don't need to be told what is and isn't so.

In addition to deliberately misleading information, any comment that demeans or patronizes another forum member is truly a sin. I feel it diminishes those who make such comments.

Don’t you all know that the majority of us with our inferior brains need to be enlightened for our own protection by having the painfully obvious interpreted for us by the noble few?

Another yawner in the Vegas Video forum today. One of these days, can you guys just give each other a big group hug and move on with all the petty crap? The funny thing to me is that I bet if someone came into this forum and starting peeing on Vegas, and telling each of you that you can't do professional work without having an Avid or FCP, you would all be banning together and letting the tar and feathering begin on that individual. It's like a disfunctional family here. They're always at each other's throats, but if someone comes in from outside the family and focuses the same negative attention on one of the family members, then all of a sudden that disfunctional family is one big happy family sticking up for one another.

Here's a big welcome to all of you, to the Vegas Video disfunctional family. I think we all could use some good ole family Counseling. Where's Dr. Phil when this forum needs him?

Alright - I'll throw in my .02 here - I'm sure that EVERYBODY's been just DYING to hear what I think - HA HA HA HA HA ROTFL

Red, you've hit it pretty well, as did Salty - I don't need someone to tell me what to think or how to think it. When I was living in this one apartment a while back I had a landlord that seem to be of the opinion that he needed to tell us how to feel about things, and "take care of us" because appearantly he thought we were incapable of calling to complain etc.. if we had a problem. It was like when he bought those apartments, they were his, and he was just so gracious to let us live there in HIS HOME. I say - if I live there it's my home, you can protect your investment etc... and make sure that people aren't all crazy, but It is most certainly MY home IMO. ok now back to the OT thread that's here ;)

Red I'm certain you're right. But with a BIG bunch of people that haven't been raised together there's going to be some pretty heated debate I'm sure.

Now to towards the betterment of this forum - Not instigating things will help - that, however should not be taken to an extreme IMO, just like Not getting all riled up over something that isn't really gonna change should be done - That, however should not be taken to an extreme - I.E. "meh.. there's nothing I can do about that guy posting VEGAS SUCKS VEGAS SUCKS VEGAS SUCKS all the time. (the answer is not necessarily to argue with him, just report him to sony admins). There's my .02 if you disagree with something I've written, well, so what - go ahead and disagree, just don't get all worked up, and let it slide. I realize that that's usually easier said than done, but noone's perfect, and if you always try, there's little more that can be asked of you in this kind of situation.

>"Since I have no agenda in posting here other than to try to help..."

If that was all you did it would be fine, but you're always putting other people down - that's what ruins an otherwise great forum.

>"I use to enjoy posting here. .........there is little enjoyment left for me if I have to walk on eggshells and nearly ask permission from the "clique" if its ok to express an opinion. So I'll keep more of my opinions to myself."

Will you ever realise - it's not opinions that cause trouble, it's derogatory remarks directed at others.
