Now, here is something that may be worth putting in the living room. I was going to pick up the Panny BD30 but I think it's worth holding off for the new BD50. This one looks like it will meet my needs.

Blink3Times,
I like the players that also have DLNA capabilities, it's really nice to access your media files over the network. Sometimes I'll bring the Blu-Ray player or AVelLink_Player2 upstairs, plug it into my network and playback all the media. One of the latest Pioneer's Blu-Ray disk player has this feature. But running a small media server, either via computer or hardware you access all your media files from the network. I can play the full 25MBS on mine using the Nero Media Server. Not to mention continuous music from playlists that use no bandwidth at all.

The only thing I don't like about many of these units is they take awhile to boot-up, because they are small computers. I've read where this long bootup time is the machines are copying the rom data to ram to execute faster.

It kind of seems you have a reading problem... this keeps coming up. There are people that can help with this.... you needn't suffer this embarrassment any longer Terje.

You really are a sad individual blink. Bloomberg is reporting a HD DVD representative saying absolutely nothing whatsoever. Standard "we are continuing to support" etc... The same thing Warner said until the day they said they are no longer supporting HD DVD. The thing that Warner basically is required by law to say. But then again, you know that, right? The HD DVD backers will say essentially "at the current time we are fully behind the format" until the day they say "we are dropping it". They really don't have much of a choice.

Now, you were referring to someone who usually reports reasonably accurate, and who has an opinion on something that diverges from your own. You referred to him as a "raving idiot". That is what I commented on.

It seems clear here, that the only person that fits that description at the moment is you. You fabricate a reality that simply doesn't exist (the PS3 has excessive fan noise etc) and everybody who is unwilling to accept your hallucinations are apparently "raving idiot[s]". That is just sad.

Oh yes, yes Terje, I'm such a sad, terrible person. I kind of like it this way though. It's pretty easy for the likes of me to get under the skin of fragile egos such as yours (It shows pretty good)

The PS3 is LOUD, has no analogue out, and the after market remote will not work for me.So from my point of view it sucks as a player. I don't have one and will NEVER have one.

Have you tried glasses for that reading problem yet, or is it more of a psychological thing?

Yeah, right. I am the one who has been rambling about "raving idiot[s]". It's clearly you who have gotten under my skin. You are projecting blink. Badly.

The PS3 is LOUD

As I have shown, a non-defect PS3 is dead quiet. It makes no noise that is louder than the spin of the BD disk mechanism, and that is also very quiet. I have shown you this blink, but reality simply isn't for you any more it seems.

Oh, and just because you, in your apparently rather enraged state, completely misunderstand something, that doesn't mean that other people can not read blink.

My PS3 is no louder than my Toshiba HD DVD player.

I don't think I am alone in saying this, but Terje and Blink - Would you please tone down the personal attacks and the four letter words against each other here? I, for one read the posts through, but I have to admit that even if there is a good point somewhere within an attack post or foul language post it really turns me off. So please tone it down. The moderators must have the patience of saints. Thanks,
John

John,

But blink is the one who spreads lies and FUD about Blu-ray and PS3 and other technical stuff. And when somebody else point this to him, he starts a personal attack.

No lies or FUD what so ever. For my purposes the PS3 sucks as a player, plain and simple. I find it loud, lacks the proper outputs, and the harmony remote won't work with it. It does not belong in a living room. That's not a lie or FUD... it is my opinion and I am fully entitled to it.

And if you read you will find that I was not the one that started the personal attacks... it was Terje as usual... but I'm perfectly happy to return the attacks if he wishes.

MM,

So where does it end? With a deleted thread? Don't you think my suggestion was prudent?

======================================================
It's not me that keeps bringing it up. In fact if you look WAAAAAAY up you will see that I inquired about PLAYERS and stated that I was not interested in the PS3. No one has said ANYTHING about players... they all just want to try and tell me how great the PS3 is.

Maybe someone wants to answer the question I started with???

Don't you think my suggestion was prudent?

Hello John, I think your suggestion was prudent, and I try hard to stay away from personal attacks. That is why I don't use phrases such as "raving lunatic" or whatever it was blink3times called a journalist that didn't agree with his world view. On the other hand, when someone spends a significant amount of time on a Sony forum simply spreading outright lies about a Sony product, speaking up against the FUD and lies is only, in my opinion, prudent. I enjoy a good debate about anything as much as the next person, I don't think lying as blink now seems to resort to as his only technique is part of good debate technique.

blink:

Here we have a good example. Blink is allowed to not like the PS3 as much as he wants to. Living in a free world ensures that. So, out of curiosity, when he said this earlier, I asked him a simple question "why". He listed a number of reasons, and I pointed out that one of them was inaccurate. He claimed that the PS3 is noisy. The reality is that a few PS3 players produced earlier this year had a noisy fan, and Sony has offered to replace any PS3 with a noise issue. A non-defect PS3 is dead quiet, you can barely hear fan at all, even from an inch or so away.

Obviously, blink might have been misinformed. Perhaps he had been unlucky and had played with a defect PS3, that is not improbable, so I informed him, politely, that this simply wasn't the case. At that point he goes irate. Literally. ALL CAPS is a good sign of that. Over and over again, stating that the PS3 was loud, even when given proof that this is not the case.

At this stage, commenting on his behavior is not a personal attack at all, it is a "suggestion" to attemt to relate to reality rather than preconceived notions based on something that apparently is emotional for blink.

See what I mean!

Is there anybody here that can be of assistance with PLAYERS?

Apparently not. Why don't you just go off and research this yourself?

But that's what I am doing now. Collect information from book... people...net... etc then make a decision based on the info I have collected.

blink:

I am not sure what it is you have been reading blink, but honestly, I can't see a single posting in this thread resembling what you are stating here. Honestly. My first reply to you was a simple "why" reply, where I specifically talked about three points you brought up - one, you didn't want kids in your living room (which has nothing to do with the PS3), two you wanted analogue out (I simply asked you why) and you thought the PS3 was noisy, and I pointed out that this was wrong.

So, nobody is trying to tell you how great the PS3 is, it was a set of simple questions, and the intention was to bring any kind of information that may underlie your decision to the forefront. Perhaps your decision to refuse the PS3 was based on erroneous information on your part, and in that case, perhaps it would be possible to correct your misconceptions.

This is normal discourse blink, and it is not meant as a personal attacks or anything at all. Your response to my pointing out that a non-defect PS3 is not noisy (and that is reality blink, no matter what you seem to think) was "they are loud... end of story.". That is not an argument, it is stating as true something that can be shown as false, in daily speak, we call that lying or being misinformed. Either or. I called you on it. Your only reaction was to repeat the un-truth over and over.

So, blink, does repeating a lie again and again make it true? Honestly, do you think it is rational behavior? Again, I am just curious. The fact that you prefer analogue out is an argument against the PS3, no doubt. The remote is too. I have no problem with that. None at all. I have called the argument that the PS3 is loud for BS though. It is blink, and I have shown you it is.

Your behavior really is sad and pathetic blink. Why is it that you can't stop with the personal attacks and lying? Is it some form of Turette's syndrome that forces you to lie and use personal attacks rather than logic and arguments? Honestly? I wonder? Nobody is attacking you here blink, but your personal attacks and lies are a little tiring.

I take it that's a "No" then?
