Perform update now

Roger Bansemer wrote on 5/2/2023, 7:05 AM

Vegas popped up with a "There is an update for Vegas Pro 20.0". I performed the update and after it downloaded the message came up again. I rebooted and there's the update message again. I did the update again and it still comes up.
Anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Appears I have update 370 right now.

Mine updated twice first with a 650mb ish then again with 1007mb. It then did the update by closing Vegas.

I'm glad to hear that. The 2nd 1007mb DL has been going hours now (at 80% right now). I wonder whether the 2 DLs are the updates for VP20 as well as for the AI Deep Learning Modules. As you noted, the file sizes are different. I didn't notice the size of the original DL and assumed that the first DL failed and it was doing it again.

How much time equals "later"? I have experienced the same issue as noted above. This happened after updating several times so I followed the update's instruction to reload from browser which ended with a crash as well. In the end I went back and simply opened Vegas, ignored the update announcement since I went through the process at least 3 times, maybe 4 X. and all went well, hopefully with the new update which there is no way of telling since the build number remains the same and I have no problems when comparing my current work with the update issues. 🙂

Yes, the smaller file is the VEGAS Pro 20 update and the larger file is the "Deep Learning Modules" update.

Huh? The Deep Learning Modules are not 3rd party - they are part of Vegas Pro 20 and install the AI functions.

I'm gettin' it done on Vegas Pro 20-402.

I also got some stuff done while the downloads proceeded. Believe it or not, I actually use other applications some times.

I also copied the downloaded files from C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\20.0 to an undisclosed, secure location before I started the installation. Perhaps, I won't have to download them again when I update my laptop so I can leave some bandwidth for you.

If you haven't done this in the past go to your Magix account page and download the installer for Vegas 20. SAVE IT. When there's an update down the road, use it. It will tell you which version it will download and do it. You don't need Vegas open at all.

What the heck is going on with this. It's been uploading all day. First a 700mg file and then a 1000mg file. Then it wants to keep repeating and repeating and uploading the same size files again. How can I end and install this darn thing? I don't even know where it places these files. Might I have a number of these 1000mg files sitting on my system?

RogerS wrote on 5/2/2023, 7:32 PM

Download it from the forum. If it doesn't finish downloading and installing it will do it again and again.

Can't seem to locate much either in the News section of the forum or in the Vegas Hub that helps me understand the rotoscoping which I'm thinking is called Smart Mask. Played with the Smart Mask and I can't see where it does anything except put a box around a figure. Hopefully someone will come out with a tutorial that shows this more clearly. I did see on the Vegas website ad where they have 4 dancers which seem to be rotoscoped really well. I'm hoping this is part of this new upload. Sorry to be so dumb on this stuff.

RogerS wrote on 5/3/2023, 10:13 AM

It's here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-20-new-feature-descriptions-includes-the-latest-update--136689/

I saw that ad as well but I don't see how they could have done that with this feature. It creates a bezier mask for an object for a single frame (not just a box). If the object doesn't change shape much it could be a timesaver as you could then motion track it. If it does change shape (like a dancer as arms and legs move) I don't really see how this would help as is.

I checked out pages 36-37 and that did give me a clue. However, when I tried to mask objects (and I tried quite a few from different clips) I always got something like this which is useless as there's no way I can see to refine the mask. I'm sure I'm way behind the curve on this stuff but unless it's made more friendly I'm not sure what the 1000mg upload is all about. And I don't mean to be mean or disrespectful here.
I can put this same clip in Runway and it will mask her almost perfectly and it also allows me to add or remove and paint in small parts it might have missed.

I understand but I was basing my expectations on their website video.

Here's a screen shot. Some different than the smart mask. I'm pretty sure I must be missing something with this 1000 and 700mb update other than the smart mask and the ability to change my fonts across the timeline.
