Picture in Picture composite

VEGAS PRO 16

I’m creating a composite with 12 short clips, using the PIP fx.

I’m wondering if there is an easy way to re-arrange the small videoclips on the screen as I only have manages to move one at time... I’d like to be able to move/resize them like, for example, I do when I edit a FB album (click and drag)..

Not keen on track motion one at time either..

Any suggestions??

thanks heaps!!

Create a Parent Track with your PiP FX tracks being Child Tracks of. Then on your Parent Track use the Parent Motion tool to move and scale all of your PiPs together.

Hi Marco, thank you very much (sorry for the late reply)..

I’m not quite sure how to implement your solution, but I’ll give it a go..

Also, I would like to point out that I’m looking for an easy way to re-arrange the clips freely, one at time, rather than moving all of them together as a block.

thanks again, mate.

Stay safe!

Maybe this makes re-arranging easier: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/how-to-change-the-grid-in-event-pan-crop--121021/ while the clips are snapping to the grid of track motion. Unfortunately this cannot be done in the preview window directly.

Thanks so much, mate... I'll have a go.... It's areal pity Vegas Pro does not have this feature... it's really hard to make a video grid without the possibility to freely scale and move the clips on the preview pane...
Cheers!

Stay safe!

For this purpose I use momentary my second NLE, where rescaling and postioning is done directly in the preview. This works really fast and accurate.

It would help enormously when the previewgrid of Vegas could be extended with a snapping option so that accurate rescaling and positioning could be done with the PIPfx only.

If you have Newblue FX Elements, they have Picture Grid and Tile. Looks like it's done in an older version of VP.

Thanks, 3POINTS but I'm not that proficient with Vegas.. I didn't understand what you meant by "For this purpose I use momentary my second NLE"

Thanks 3POINTS! What does NLE stands for?

Thanks Eric, I had a look at the article but I just haven't got enough brain cells to digest it.. :)
However, I do appreciate your help!
Cheers, mate!

@CRIB Vegas is a NLE. So 3POINT was just saying he used another editing programme that he has.

So 3POINT was just saying he used another editing programme that he has.

And the second NLE he's using is obviously Power Director 18 - as you can read in his user profile. (currently costs € 99) He is one of the few who really fill out their user profile properly.

As the saying goes: "Whoever reads - and can ask the right questions - has a clear advantage".
