Problem with custom resolution

Timz wrote on 7/8/2019, 3:26 PM

I have recorded gameplay footage at 1440 x 1080 resolution. My project settings match the video format and resolution. When I try to render the video with custom resolution (1440 x 1080 as in the videofile), for some reason Movie Studio 16 crops the rendered video. The video looks fine on the preview when editing it, but as soon as I start to render the video crops to a smaller size in the preview and the output video is cropped too. I have tried turning "Maintain Aspect Ratio" on and of, I have tried checking the "Stretch video to fill output frame size (do not letterbox)" option. I have tried to render with different resolutions all together with stretching on OR off. No luck. I have tried to render with AVC/AAC or HEVC/AAC, both with Internet 1080p 59.94fps Customized and not. I'm kinda running out of options. The video just doesnt want to render as 1440 x 1080.

Which template are you using to render? That is not a 16 x 9 aspect, so you would need to change the aspect. Or even better render to 1920 x 1080 (and capture as 1920 x 1080)

I figured it out! The preview window said this: Project 1440 x 1080 x 32 and Preview 1440 x 1080 x 32. All well and good. But if I opened the project properties, it Width and Height were still at 1920 x 1080, changed this and tested it out. Well the preview window STILL during render crops the image to a smaller size, BUT the output video is as it should be, full screen, HD and working as intended. Took me a while to notice because the preview window didn't do that cropping last time when I rendered about 2 weeks ago, so every time it did I thought there was a problem. Thanks anyway for the super quick support!
