Proxies and Handbrake

I created a bunch of proxies in handbrake because it does them in a batch. I put together my video with proxy footage. Now I renamed the folder with the proxy files to something different and then renamed the original files folder to the name of the original proxy folder. However when I start Vegas, even though the folder name, path, and file name are the same, Vegas can't find the file. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing it would appear. Perhaps there is something different like an unnoticed space in a file or folder name.

When Vegas cannot find the file point it to the file needed to replace the 'missing" one and if you are lucky it may then find them all.

@Jarrod-Fegley As an fyi, Vegas has a Swap Video Files function in Project Media that does exactly what you are doing without you having to rename folders. Just point it to the new folder location and, if all the clip-names match, it should work. Maybe it'll give better diagnostics if there's a mismatch. I find Vegas works better when media folders are sub-folders of where the project is located as opposed to being in a parallel folder.

Thank you very much for this info. I will try and use/figure out this feature. I had no idea it was there. In regards to your "folders" comment. So you are saying I'd be better off having my media located in a sub folder of where I save my project files? So if I save the vegas project file in D:/RoyalCanine, the project media should be in D:/RoyalCanine/video?

Thank you

Yes. I find the Vegas media-search dialog comes up less frequently that way when I use removable media and take it to a different computer.
