Started new project and wondered why my Preview (Full) was grainy. Seems the Proxy setting in VP17 is slightly different from VP16. VP16 has auto proxy generation set at 3,840 x 2,161 while VP17 has it set at 4,097 by default so VP17 was not generating any Proxy files for my UHD footage. You can change this in the internal menu.
