Proxy files are not played despite being generated

I have HEVC files. For smooth viewing, I generate a proxy for them. After restarting the project on another computer, on the same disk, the HEVC originals are not replaced in the proxy preview. You need to create a new proxy and overwrite the existing old proxy. Why does the program lose connections between the HEVC file and its proxy counterpart?

With recent versions of VEGAS it seems to matter which decoder was used to make the proxy in the first place (experimental vs legacy vs default setting in preferences/ file io). Why this happens is a mystery.

@Piotr-D Same disk on a different computer? The "sfvp0" proxy files should be there right next to the mp4 files and seen by the other Vegas. Maybe preview is set to good or best on the other computer which bypasses proxies? As a last resort you can try and delete all the "sfvp0" proxy clips on the other computer and recreate them right-clicking on the mp4 files in Project Media.
