I was advised to upgrade to Vegas 21 as Vegas 18 is a legacy version and they can’t do anymore to support it.I’ve bought Vegas 21 and i don’t get the crashing problem on rendering. The only issue I have with Vegas 21 is that it takes a long while to load a project. I think it’s the MXF files that cause that.

The extra loading time you notice may be a result of proxy files being built. If so, it should only happen once, look at the progress indicator lower left.

It’s happening every time. I have instructions what to do next to make a clean re install. I’m not sure this will work but I’ll give it a go.

Is it the thumbnails being redrawn in the project media window? If so click a different tab and they won't be redrawn?

Or is it drawing the thumbnails for the video events? Under preferences/ video you can change it to head/center/tail (that's what I use).

I’ve just tried that but unfortunately it didn’t make any difference.

If it's not horribly long perhaps put up with it until the next update of 21 is released? Maybe it will have a speed improvement.

If you cut and paste the old timeline from VP 18 to a fresh one in 21 does that help any?

I could give it a try. I’ll need to try the ‘ clean install’ as it’s the next step in the advice I’m being given by Magix.
