@Cliff-Harris Just a thought. I see by your taskbar that there's a Windows Update waiting for you to reboot your computer. If it were me, I would reboot first and let the update take place. Sometimes it seems that on days that Windows updates take place is when Vegas seems to have lags.

Intel Core i7 10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (to 4.65GHz), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GBytes. Memory 32 GBytes DDR4. Also Intel UHD Graphics 630. Mainboard: Dell Inc. PCI-Express 3.0 (8.0 GT/s) Comet Lake. Bench CPU Multi Thread: 5500.5 per CPU-Z.

Vegas Pro 21.0 (Build 108) with Mocha Vegas

Windows 11 not pro

Vegas is not Sony anymore for a long time, read this https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/sony-vegas-vs-vegas--119881/
Thank you for all the information
Difficult to discover the reason for crashing.
Because the render completes on another PC it cannot be the sources.
Do you have enough space on the renderlocation? (at least 2x expected size)
Can you also share a screenshot of Options/Preferences/ Video?

I updated just now as it crashed when I was editing. It gets to the point I can’t edit for more than a few minutes sometimes before it locks up completely .

Cliff-Harris wrote on 3/13/2024, 5:35 PM

I’m wondering if it’s to do with the graphics card being incompatible.

VEGASDerek wrote on 3/13/2024, 6:20 PM

Your card should work fine with this version of VEGAS...what is the drive version for your GPU?

If you are crash while editing, the problem is likely with how VEGAS is reading/decoding the media in your project.

Please provide a MediaInfo readout on the media you are using.

Cliff-Harris wrote on 3/13/2024, 6:36 PM

I’m not sure what Mediainfo means?

I’ve checked if there are any new drivers but it says this is the latest.

Just done an experiment with phone footage and repeated the same clip until I had around 20mins worth, it crashed at 28%

@Cliff-Harris Driver 546.33 is the Game driver, Vegas recommend the Studio driver I believe.

Version:546.33, Game Ready driver, Release Date:2023.12.12'

Vegas Help - Check for driver updates will tell you the latest driver, Studio driver 551.61 is the latest.

Or you can install NVidia GeForce which will help update the driver, (& has a screen capture option which is what i use) https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/geforce-experience/

Studio drivers installed, I rendered about half of my footage on the timeline ( just so I wouldn’t have to wait to render the whole of my footage) it rendered ok. I’ll render the whole of the timeline later today but it seems to have cured the issue after literally months of trying to sort the problem out. I noticed that the frame rate was much lower on the render and the PC wasn’t speeding up like it did before. Thank you all and especially the final clincher I think about using the studio drivers as opposed to the game drivers. I’ll report back later today if the whole of my timeline gets rendered ok. Thanks all ☺️

Sadly nit good new when I tried rendering the whole time line it crashed at 68% then tried again and it crashed instantly . 😔
