Rendering time V22 vs V23

Same project, same PC. Has anyone noticed this behavior? Is it a problem with the trial version?

@edoardo-l I hate it when people make posts & you have to try to work out what they're talking about or just take a guess 🤷‍♂️

I'm guessing rendering is slower?

How's about opening the 'Estimated Properties' in the second image? 👍

Might also help to mention the media info and render preset settings.

Same project, same PC, but also same render settings? Are you using NVENC, etc?

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

The render settings are the same: Internet UHD 2160p 25 fps AMD VCE. The video files are AVC 3840 x 2160 (8 bit) in mov container from Panasonic Gh5II and G9. The pc specifications are in signature. I was wondering if anyone has seen the same behavior in rendering, the speed went from about 60 to 32 fps.

@edoardo-l Hi, I apologise if my first comment seemed course 👍

Yes, I just rendered an 8min UHD project in VP22 - 10mins, in VP23 it took 15mins!. 😒 (I'm going to create my own post about this)

I'm wondering if it's an issue with amd renders or timeline processing. I don't have my 6900xt installed at the moment to test that. My only suggestion is to make sure video gpu says optimal and i/o gpu is set to auto so it selects same gpu as video prefs. Also, what about the subsampling... 4:2:2 avc is a problem for any gpu.

Gid wrote on 9/9/2025, 4:38 PM

@Howard-Vigorita

Yes my GPU is Optimal & I/O is set to Auto.

You're on Intel & we're on AMD CPU's, neither mine nor @edoardo-l has integrated graphics 🤔
