Screen glitches and green flickers in Vegas 18

SenpaiJake wrote on 9/25/2020, 3:19 PM

I downloaded Vegas 18 on my laptop with just Intel HD graphics and a i3 and albeit slow to render and edit, I never had any graphical issues or rendering output issues.

I switched over to a pc rig I bought from a friend a month ago, and when I got Vegas 18 on it the first issue I noticed is that the screen would glitch out at the top, and in my preview the video would randomly have green overlay flickers. I simply turned off GPU acceleration to fix it, and it was all good.

Fast forward a month later, and I'm editing footage I downloaded from my Twitch profile. It's all going fine until I make a few cuts and then suddenly, the glitch starts happening again. The top of the screen glitches out when I move around, and the preview has green flickers. I did some research and found nothing. I went into Internals settings and set the OpenCL interop to FALSE like recommended, and that fixed it. I was able to edit the entire video without the issue. I even switched GPU acceleration backon for the extra power, and it was all fine.

Then I went to render, and it started again. So, I stopped the render, turned GPU acceleration off, and tried again, and it still kept doing it. I let it render out thinking maybe its just a glitch with the UI code or something, and my final rendered video is littered with the green flickering.

Flickering seems to be a problem for a lot of people, but this bug with the actual UI glitching out seems new when I try to search for it. I'm attaching an imgur link of what it looks like. https://imgur.com/4Hbfe5h

I have tried everything above, and it seems like its picking and choosing when to work and freak out. Anyone have any ideas?

My GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 285

CPU: i5-4400u

8gb ram

Thanks!

Have you updated the drivers? With help / search for driver updates

And - j-v is right - see minimum requirements https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-pro/specifications/#productMenu

Don't worry about the cpu, I'm running an i5 3570K @4.2GHz and it runs v18 just fine. AI is fixed in 334 update too - works fine with i5. Mind you I have 32gb ram and 1080ti which powers v18 along.

Hello! Did you find any solution to this? You're the only one describing exactly the same problem as I'm experiencing. I also use R9 200 series graphics card. Tried everything it feels like.:/

@SenpaiJake
has only posted once here - and has not responded to the suggestions.

If he doesn't get back to you, I would recommend that you start a thread of your own and describe exactly what your problem is.
At first, many people think they have the same problem, but when you look at it more closely, it becomes always very specific.
