The SeMW Extensions up to Version 1.0.8 are not compatible with the new VEGAS Pro 15 and will cause it to crash on startup unless certain extensions are disabled. I've now released Version 1.0.9 that will work with VEGAS 15. Download it at:
Yes, I didn't get around to renewing the certificate yet, so unfortunately Windows will treat the file as being from an unknown source and require an additional confirmation.
@Jam_One, please check in the Windows Features of your system if both .NET Framework boxes are checked. If not, do so, restart your system and try again.
Yes, that's a bit of a general problem. When Avira says it has detected "common family characteristics shared in several variants", what it means, is "this program is trying to install files onto your computer, which is the mark of a virus". That's certainly true, but it's also the mark of a setup program.
I agree that signing the file might help to convince Avira that this file is not malicious, although I don't know how exactly they make that determination. I'm currently in the process of acquiring a new certificate.
For what it's worth, I've redownloaded the file and made sure it's identical to the original release. I also checked it with VirusTotal again. Its hash codes are: MD-5: D6839F2F81CB72AC75E2021E9710C29E SHA-1: 91349B25F0B16B0043DEC026B54BB07A3492744B SHA-256: BEFC9642C27F8F69AB9E7A9855AAEDC71582DCB88025C9CE4923D41FBB39A69C

Thanks very much for reply. I"ll retreive it from the virus vault and install it
I've had Vegas Pro 15 for almost 3 weeks and it would not run on my PC as it would crash upon startup each time. Creating a new Admin account and installing from there also did not work. Today, created a new user account and Vegas Pro crashed upon startup, but, gave one piece of information that the normal user account did not: "semw.extensions" was faulting. Installing this update solved my issue. Thank-you!
This seems to happen only with a project with video proxies (or the proxies option wouldn't appear). Also, it doesn't exactly replace the preview levels option but rather pushes it out the bottom of the window, where the options popup is clipped. So while mostly invisible, the option can still be selected and deselected with the keyboard. I'll see what I can do about that.
