"Serial number already registerred"

Jack-Wilkinson wrote on 2/19/2023, 12:48 PM

I purchased Sony Vegas Pro 20 recently and registered it on my laptop, but I just had my desktop upgraded and while I should still have one registration left to activate on a new device, when I try to register on the desktop I get the error "This serial number has already been registered to another email address. Please contact MAGIX support. Error Code -24"

And since I couldn't find any direct way to contact support, I'm posting here because this seems to be the only way to do it now. I need to get this program up and running ASAP.

I'm using a freshly installed windows 10 64 bit operating system, I've never installed any other versions of vegas on it

Please help I spent a lot of money on this and it's vital to my projects.

If you did a major upgrade to your hardware or os, the system might have registered the same installation as 2 different machines. You can log into your Magix account and deactivate the obsolete one online. Happened to me once when I upgraded a machine to Win11 without deactivating via the Vegas Help option before doing the upgrade.

I deactivated it but am getting the same error about the email already being registered, I'll try contacting support but any other suggestions would be appreciated as I want to get it working ASAP.

Actually, I just uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked this time, so I managed to figure it out after all. Thank you for the help.
