Just checking to see if anyone can offer me some feedback on this device.. I'm looking for a way to streamline my physical workflow and save a little time with repeat editing action and such.
Thanks in Advance.
I work with the ShuttlePro under my left hand, the mouse under my right. I've used it since Sony Vegas 4.0 and can't imagine working without it. I rarely have to reach for the keyboard.
Love it for the jog and dial. The thing I don't like is that the key programming does not accept combination modifiers like shift+alt or shift+alt+ctrl. I would like to do j edits but this seems to limit that from here (unless I go and make custom key assignments.....)
I have one, but hardly ever use it. Maybe because I'm left handed, and my trackball is on the left? I'll have to try it again and see if it's useful to me.
I have seen a keyboard with the shuttle built in, I always though that would be cool too. Has anyone tried that? http://www.bella-usa.com/dv
John Rofrano recommended this to me a few years ago. It has been a great tool, I do not like editing with out it. I purchased a second one for a fellow editor, he hasn't stopped using it either. I have set up different schemes for editing: 3 cam event shooting and another for weddings. I don't think you will regret the purchase....
One slight problem with conflict on Logitech driver, some features didn't work properly. I removed the logitech driver, and all is well.
It seems pretty clear that this device is a "Must Have".. I just always felt that the harder you work in 'Post', the better the results.. However this is clearly a "Work Smarter Not Harder" device that I may appreciate as my editing skills evolve.
I'm just about finish with a Christmas (Video/Movie) and I know I could have made my life easier in post with some of the editing tools available out there. It may be because I know I won't be able to release the project for commercial purposes because of some stupid legal reasons and I just get a very good editing work-out..
Now I'm ready to have a little more structure in my digital workstation.

Sure the Shuttle Pro accepts combinations like what you have mentioned.

You can program it to run macros and pretty much any shortcut key combination needed. I couldn't work without it.
Actually you can't. I have tried to program "shift+alt" (no key after) or "shift+alt+control" to provide one button modifiers for mouse editing of the clip. It doesn't work. You can do it for just one modifier at a time. (I belive you also can do something like "ctrl+alt+m" or some other final key. I even contacted Contour Design support and they admit it can't be done, that it is a recognized limitation.
Please, if you have done this post your controller settings because I'd like to do that too.

Yeah, it has to have a final key. Possibly could program a keyboard key to type in the ctrl+shift and then have a shuttle key activate this key?
hi, dancerchris,
I use the ShuttlePro V2 to provide mouse clicks for certain functionality.
You can program buttons to click the left, middle, or right mouse button either by itself or together with activation of ctrl, alt, shift, or win (individually or in combination). The button can be programmed to hold the click for the duration of the button-press (e.g. for drag operations).
Using that feature, you can set the mouse cursor location using your mouse & then provide mouse-click with the ShuttlePro V2 as programmed.
I currently use it in this manner for various applications & it easily became comfortable & natural for me. Hope this can work for you as well.

I have just treated myself to a ShuttlePro v2 to help me edit video from our forthcoming 1 month+ long trip. It's going to take me a long time (the last one spread over many months - Sunday mornings only!).
I'm hoping this will let me work a little more rapidly. I invariably use J-cuts to smooth continuity. I wonder if any expert ShuttlePro users could give me some tips on setting the device up to help me achieve these as speedily as possible?
With the CSP2 you get an option to create Macros and nest them. When I was experimenting with this feature I made a nested Macro to do LJ cuts. It worked. Do I use it now? No.
I used to use mine all the time, then somehow it lost connection - more than a year ago - and support at Contour Design never answered my repeated requests for assistance, so I've reverted to using keyboard shortcuts again.
edit: Spurred on by this thread I am again trying to get some response from their Support ....
With the way the shift key temporarily upgroups video and audio in Vegas Pro 12 and 13, J and L cuts are so easy I can't picture why I would need a script.
Had one for a decade or so but I only ever use the jog and shuttle (which I love) so I probably could have just had a ShuttleXpress instead (assuming that's supported in Vegas). I did set up the buttons a couple of times but soon got out of the habit of using them.
I do however use the 2 thumb buttons on my mouse, which are set up to DELETE and ENTER (which in turn is set up to play/pause the Vegas timeline). Would be hard to live without those now I'm used to it.
I took the rubber feet off my Shuttle Pro and replaced them with slippy fleet. I like to be able to slide it around to adjust the position, even though it's not a mouse.
I have "JKL / shuttle speed" set to "Fast" in the Editing preferences.
Interesting feedback, thanks. I'll see how I get on......

I have buttons set up on my Shuttle for HOME, END, SPLIT, DELETE, MARK IN and OUT as well as STOP and PAUSE (each works differently). I also have one MACRO for RENDER for PREVIEW.
Other macros I have tried, I just ended up not using.

Even easier with Ctrl+Alt+Shift (followed by just shift to overlap a bit)
