So4 Compound Reader causes Vegas Pro 19 to freeze.

This has happened several times today and in days past: So4 Compound Reader causes Vegas Pro 19 to freeze. Fortunately there is autosave, but still: not faith inspiring. What can be done?

The system is a gaming laptop with intel i7 processor and Nvidia Gforce GTX GPU and 16GB Ram. The media is regular FHD 30fps MP4s as it came out of the Lumix G9 and the audio was recorded on a zoom in WAV format, although there are a couple of clips in MP3 format.

The system is not strong enough to carry out slow motion with preprocessing very well, but otherwise everything runs quite smoothly. I think the problem last night may have been related to my Nested Timeline disaster.

I have what may be a similar issue because of so4compoundplug.dll and plan to now contact Magix direct this morning as no-one on the forum has been able to solve it:

What's the media in use? Please provide pertinent info about the system and media when it crashes if you want anyone to figure out what is going on.

Probably not related- specific issue with NVIDIA decoding and a particular type of Canon media. Of course we don't know the CPU, GPU or media of this poster as zero info was given.

A tip in another thread that has worked thus far - knock on wood - was to turn both AVC and HEVC legacy on.

Well, not a solution but a workaround- turning on legacy AVC disables so4compound. You lose GPU decoding, 10-bit media decoding, etc., etc.

Try going to help/driver update and updating any iGPU and GPU drivers.

If you want further help, please answer questions about your system and media. (which i7 is it?)
