Sony AVC Codec Missing

Me too...worked a treat! after finally uninstalling all my NVidia stuff and reinstalling the 304.79 driver (after your download of the HD4000 driver) the sony AVC/MVC reared its head. I was still not getting the Main Concept AVC/AAC to work however with my GTX670, so I have installed a GTX470 and now can render any and all of the templates. So now I'm hoping to get back to work and start making videos again. Thanks to all for working at these issues...

Nice find. My mb uses HD3000 for onboard graphics and the Asus driver provided did not allow 'quick synch' to function correctly. Tried various drivers from Intel & it was a bit hit & miss.
2696 & 2761 are OK together with the one you found.
Only ran into the driver problem when I trialled Edius 6 and switched my screens to use one port on the 550ti and the second screen using the onboard graphics.
Many thanks G

It looks as if there are some people who had this bug and responded favorably. I hope others are able to find it from the search function and apply the fix. I suspect there will be a lot of Z77 motherboards as well as 3770 and 3770k processors out there in the coming months

Just upgraded my computer on Fri to an I7 with HD4000 graphics and yes the Sony AVC Codec was missing and the Windows 8 driver fixed the problem! Nice find!!!

What is shamefull is that Sony doesn't even pay enough attention to even make this a sticky.

But on a bright note my crashes are way down. Only had one today.

Must admit I’m a little puzzled as to how an Intel Graphics driver affects the AVC codec. Most users appear to be using nVidia or ATI graphics cards. The intel drivers are surely only required with intel onboard or discrete graphics. In my case looking in the device manager I have both nvidia & intel devices showing. If I disable the intel device Vegas 11 still shows the avc codec as available & useable.

Explanation anyone?

Well, I notice that both you and the OP are using boards that include a LucidLogix Virtu feature. That enables both the intel GPU and your card's GPU to run at the same time.

Why that affects the AVC codec is a mystery to me, but it's something you have in common.

Disabiling probably won't prove anything, because Vegas would ignore it on boot. The issue probably comes into play when Vegas looks at the graphics cards and for whatever reason leaves out the codec when it finds a card with an incompatible driver. I believe that would fall into a "known issues" column.

You know that you with an ASUS MB you can use the Lucid Logix software to boost your GPU with the onboard graphics? Just need to install the iGPU driver and enable everything in the bios.

I now tend to edit in Edius. I use one screen on oboard graphics & second screen on GTX550ti. QuickSync works fine but the Intel onboard graphics driver seems critical. Tried Virtu but prefer to keep things simple so use hardware.
Vegas seems happy with this arrangement too. Odd things (mainly titling) that I've not yet figured out in Edius are knocked out in Vegas using the canopusHQ.avi codec. Since early May the whole setup seems stable. I'll now treat graphics updates with caution

No $$'s for VP12/13 now as I picked up a crossgrade from VP11 to Edius6v5.

My Sony AVC / MVC codec is gone

I have read several threads on this forum but it has not solved the problem

Windows Version 7 64-bit
Sony vegas 12 to 394
Driver Nvidia 306.97 - GTX 680

I can see Sony Codec in the folder FileIO Plug-Ins / mp4plug3
have removed the folder boot vegas inserted folder again negative

in sony vegas Help / About Sony vegas / Components: I can see that the program loads the file
mp4plug3.dll version: 12.0.0.394 path: G: \ Sony Vegas Pro 12 Build 394 \ FileIO Plug-Ins \ mp4plug3 \ mp4plug3.dll

I delete graphics driver inserted elderly and and latest beta also. negative

I have delete sony vegas 12 and installed again negative

In the same computer setup, I have sony vegas 10e works everything as it should and I have access to the Sony AVC / MVC version 10.xxx

I myself have a feeling that the error came when I updated to the new Nvidia beta driver 310.66 wrote the failure of open CL installation fails after I deleted everything??? and went back to 306.97 now only issue is all cleared and may be a file corrupted relating Open CL vindows.

"I could not be updated driver for intel graphics HD 4000 since when I have an older CPU Intel 2 Quad CPU Q 8300 2.5 Ghz"

what shall I do?
Thank you in advance

I saw that.

Notice the little black triangle just in front of the Sony AVC/AAC or Main Concept AVC/AAC line .
Clic it for a short (V11) or long (V12) list of choices.
Then you can choose your favorite or create a new one.
Once selected the line must become blue to be effective.
