Sony employee amnesty

you must share the frustration of the 32bit mode Studio RGB/Computer RGB bug? I spent quite while trying to figure out what was going on, before giving up and going back to 8bit mode. I had even read Glenn Chan's explanation for the bug, but I had not connected it to this behaviour. Every time you get one of these stupid bugs, you have to go through the rigmarole of figuring out whether or not it is expected behaviour or if it is something wrong with the software.

No. I don't. Because now that I've worked with it for quite a while, I understand what it is, and how to deal with it. Just like any other number of issues with other software apps.
Sure, like others, I put in my half-pence worth about what does and doesn't work. But I'm not naive enough to think it makes one damn bit of difference who does and doesn't work for Sony (BTW, not one person in this thread works for Sony or receives free anything from Sony, other than myself, to the best of my knowledge).

BTW, Photoshop has a lot of problems too. I wrote a single complaint, that's it. Maybe they'll fix it, maybe they won't. Should I waste a lot of time trying to gather people around me to support my pet peeves? Or will I be better served merely working around the two major peeves I have with the software once I've made my complaint?
Again...I'll take the latter. It's more productive for me, my mental health, my production schedule, and those around me.

What you've done here, IMO, is alienate yourself from other users. In all likelihood, this is what has caused you to be banned from other communities. In the process, you've discovered nothing, and changed nothing.
It seems like the cost of your question is so much higher than the reward...you might consider working WITH the product rather than against it. I promise, you'll be happier for it.

I have not tried to gather people around me.

I am not prepared to put up with these stupid things.

There are a lot of people that make a huge effort to tell me that complaining is not a good idea, or that they take offense at my expressing my frustration. That probably amounts to a lot more raw text than my original complaints.

I am not here to make friends, so I do not really care who is alienated to me or whatever.

I can not "work with the product" if I am always having to go through a completely unintuitive process of hit and miss elimination to get the thing to work.

OMG... have I entered this thread too late to join the fun?

Obviously I'm in the employ of Apple, for my references to Mac Pro, FCP, Motion and Soundtrack Pro (the later I secretly, but publicly hate), Microsoft, though I doubt they'll be paying me anymore after they read my latest references to their products, Digidesign for mentioning ProTools, Adobe for oblique references to having at one time used Premiere (but I didn't inhale) Sonic Foundry because that's how I was seduced into using Sound Forge, Vegas and ACID (though the ACID trips seemed much better in the 70's). Panasonic as I own and use the odd camera or two and of course the reason for this thread SONY because they've been supplying me with the medications that keep me using their products.

But on a serious note thank you Robert for posting a thread that has given me a really unusual experience... the opportunity for once on this forum to agree with Blink... just never ever imagined that would happen lol.....

"Obviously I'm in the employ of Apple, for my references to Mac Pro, FCP,"

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! :)

"I am not here to make friends"

Well, good, then you won't be disappointed.

Robert, regardless of your child-like tantrums, the fact remains that when you installed the Vegas software, you agreed to the following:

"NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OR ADVICE GIVEN BY SONY OR A SONY AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE SHALL CREATE A WARRANTY. WITHOUT LIMITION OF THE FOREGOING, SONY AND THE THIRD PARTY PROVIDERS DO NOT WARRANT THAT: (a) THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, (b) YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, (c) THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, OR (d) THE SOFTWARE WILL OPERATE WITH THE HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION YOU CHOOSE."

I guess SCS has the legal right to ignore you.

I am just a happy customer. I am hoping that all the good words I have said about
the F350 camera, they'd send me one as a Thank You. (I'll buy my own lens)

This thread is still running!! I thought all necessary points were made back yesterday. Why the continuing hassle? Is agreement on this matter important?

No... we're working it up as a comedy skit... no one could take this thread seriously could they?

"3times...blink???'

Bloody Apple employees... always....... twisting........ things

Okay.... fine.... not my best joke in the world.... I admit it.

Bloody Apple employees

I have to seriously admit I was once given a free T-Shirt by Apple when I visited their offices in Sydney back in the late 1980s to have a look at a piece of software for my (then) brand new Apple IIgs.

They were quietly giving away faulty Apple Developers' Conference T-Shirts to anyone who came in because the T-Shirt had printed on it...

Apple Developers Conference
Sidney, Australia

Their excuse was "...well the T-Shirts were printed overseas..."

I guess the printer didn't have a spelling checker for his screen printer.

I'm am editing a video with Vegas right now in my underwear....and it is marvelous!
Serena wrote on 4/4/2009, 6:26 PM
Why have you got Vegas in your underwear?
Coursedesign wrote on 4/4/2009, 8:22 PM
Because it feels good?

Robert, I think if you had just picked a different Subject line, people here would have cut you a bit more slack.

My first thought when I read your post with the Subject line, was that you have anger management issues.

We live in an information society, but 90% of the information flow is not important (or even wrong).

So we have to make a choice: sink or swim. Get angry, or find a way to deal with it.

Accept that there are no perfect products, especially not software of any kind.

People complain as much about Adobe's, Apple's, and Avid's NLEs as they do about Vegas.

At last half of the criticism of any NLE is based on misunderstandings, misinformation, or simply a desire to have the product be designed in a different way (which may have unintended consequences).

Vegas is easily the most wonderful video editing tool, because of its unique paradigm. It has all kinds of limitations, but if you can live with those, there is nothing like it.

I can't help seeing a major deterioration of civility on this forum.

This is nothing new.

I've seen it happen every time people here feel they've been waiting too long for the next version of Vegas.

I saw it after "Vegas Video 3" got long in the tooth, and then with VV4, VV6, V7, and now V8 Pro.

So let's hope Sony has at least an announcement of V9 at NAB.

In the interest of civility here :O).

Subject: RE: Sony employee amnesty

That's where I keep the tool to fill in those pesky black holes in my video. You need a very small tool for that job.

Spot|DSE wrote on 4/4/2009, 8:54 PM
Now the funny thing here is, I *have* received a paycheck from Apple and Adobe for public presentation, consulting, training.
I'm not sure if I'm eligible for "amnesty" or not...

"I can not "work with the product" if I am always having to go through a completely unintuitive process of hit and miss elimination to get the thing to work."

Then find a product that works?

No problems here. No money from Sony here, either.

"Now the funny thing here is, I *have* received a paycheck from Apple "

Well you're pretty much looked at as a "Vegas fanboi" as well so I don't think you have too much to worry about.

BTW... I can't for the life of me figure out why that's considered such a put-down. I tend to wear that badge with the utmost of pride. Can anybody clue me in?

Data mining with a Saturday Night Live forum twist. I'm impressed to see blink, newhope, johncline, frass, treje and dse, all holding hands and dancing around the campfire singing "Final Four" tunes! ;-) But someone should take away that gas can from DavidW because he's soaking himself pretty good. ;-)

Now, I'm starting to worry about 2012, will Coursedesign reject all things Apple by Dec 12, 2012, will this be the end of the Apple's universe? Will the rotten apple be revealed as hollow with no value? Will Apple fanboys become the next WS jumpers? Will these "fanboys" walk into BestBuy PC displays with bombs strapped to their "privates"? ;-)

There is nothing new in the world. Everything has already happened before...

When Apple went from System 6 to System 7 (during the Sculley Pepsi-boss era), I got disgusted with Apple's lack of understanding of the Internet (they told people to go to various universities to get different parts of the communications software needed), and how they were forcing people to reformat their hard drives to upgrade, at a time when backup disks were very expensive.

So I chucked my Powerbook and switched to a Compaq laptop with advanced Windows 3.1 with pre-emptive multitasking. Didn't look back until early 2006 when I saw the first MacBook Pros, really blew me away. And I was quite impressed with OS X then (and still am, as there are quite a few things that are jawdroppingly nice in it).

With Jobs away, who knows what Apple will do next. And Carl Icahn wants to buy the company and make it a major consumer player (I doubt he will get it).

If the 2012 OS X release is named "Hellcat," I may switch to Windows X :O).

Who cares, these are just tools, aren't they?

No, they will have Vegas disks strapped there.

"No, they will have Vegas disks strapped there. " Ha.. ;-) I was wondering if you caught the 12-12-12 twist; OS12, Xcode->XIIcode, iPhone upgrade 12.12, 12 core chips... etc.... and the obvious 6-6-6............. and ....................

Not that it's any of your business but I went to NAB last year and walk away with well over $1,000 worth of free software :)
