All videos are timelaps recordings, same as film. It is only a question of how fast.

The most recent two entries, Jorgan's Garage and Winds of Heaven, can't be viewed.

On the vasst site on the right hand side in the contest tab, it says to vote or enter by Oct. 25, but on the contest page it says voting is from the 10th to the 15th. Which is correct?
Spot|DSE wrote on 10/3/2005, 7:13 PM
Read carefully....entries until the 10th, VOTING until the 25, voting opens on the 10th....and VOTING closes on the 25th.

It's tough to be clear on it, only because due to community demand, you can't vote until all entries are in.
winrockpost wrote on 10/3/2005, 7:52 PM
Voting begins on October 10, and continues until October 15, when the winner will be announced.

vote or enter by October 25

Reading carefully , this is what it says.
Spot|DSE wrote on 10/3/2005, 8:20 PM
Winrock, you are absolutely right, I'd been looking at a cached view. I apologize. It's been changed out.
Entries end on Oct 10 at midnight.
Voting starts October 10 at 12:01, so technically on Oct 11.
Voting ends on October 25th.
Entries displayed for 30 days after that.

Just a reminder it's getting down to the wire here.
I just submitted my entry.

By the way, thanks Spot & company for the contests you guys do ,, loads of fun .

Plus my very own "Jorgen's Garage to the Rescue" is not on the Voting List.
Bad, naughty ..... :-(

Garo, your entry is in the list, I just checked it.

There are 22 entries in total (I would have expected a lot more) but only 20 in the voting list.

The penny just dropped....

To prevent participants from voting for themselves, perhaps you can't see your own entries.

That would make sense.

YES EXCEPT THAT MY FIRST ENTRY IS IN FACT VISIBLE TO ME ........ :-)

Garo,

I don't know what your first entry is but "Jorgen's Garage to the Rescue" is definately there.

DSE posted: "Entries end on Oct 10 at midnight."

Ummm, does that mean i can upload my entry today? The upload form seems to have disappeared.
AlanC wrote on 10/10/2005, 3:40 AM
The sub header, (top right under "Contests") says "vote or enter by October 25th"

On the second page it says "Entries may begin at any time, and entries will no longer be taken after midnight, October 10."

Conflicting and confusing.

I'm grateful to DSE and VASST for hosting the competition but can we have a clear definition before it's too late.

Yep, if i had understood that yesterday was the last day for entries i would have uploaded then, but i held off until today to make a few last tweaks.

"Midnight" is a bad term to use since it's never clear whether it's midnight at the beginning of that date or at the end of that date.
AlanC wrote on 10/10/2005, 5:09 AM
You Yanks have the advantage anyway.

Midnight for us Brits was 13 hours ago :~)

Apologies for the cut off, bad choice of words on our part, and worse, our server is set to GMT vs MST, which we didn't realize until this morning. So, midnight MST...cut off tonight.
All vids that have been correctly submitted have all been approved and are live.
Chienworks wrote on 10/10/2005, 4:49 PM
Thanks Douglas! But, the upload form is still missing. ;)

edit. Oops, never mind. Somehow i got logged out of the site. I see it now.

"Would a timelapse made out of stills from a digital camera at a rate of 1 pic every 30 seconds be allowed ?"

Sure sounds to me like a collection of stills that would constitute a video clip.

How would this be different than a camera that takes 30 pics every second?

FuTz wrote on 10/11/2005, 6:10 AM
...just try to take 30 pics a second with a still camera...

Am I missing something?
of the top 3 voted so far, I can see why WWII flick & Reflections got the votes, both being clever with good production values, not to mention it looks like they put alot of effort into them...
but Animal farm(nothing against the creator) on the other hand, a very simple slide show w/ a single sound track, yet it's the top vote getter(at this time)...
maybe I just can't see the trees for the forrest, so please, someone enlighten me on what I'm missing here....

I think people just like the simple concept well executed.
It's a like a great pop song. It may only be three-chords, but it's how you use them that matters.
