The font size of the menu tabs names in Vegas pro 18 &19 is very small

m-yusuf wrote on 8/29/2021, 6:12 AM

I suffer from insomnia because of this problem, I tried to find a solution for it, even in this forum no one gave me a final solution, all solutions failed.

The font size of the menu tabs names in Vegas pro 18 is very small. As well as in the latest version 19

This wasn't until earlier versions, but in Vegas pro 18 the menu name text is too small.

On the vegas pro 17 screen, the Transitions, Video FX and Media Generator menu names and the names of the filters in it are large, whereas on the Vegas pro 18 screen, the Transitions, Video FX and Media Generator menu names and the filter names in them are very small.

For example, the name font size of the plug-ins in the Vegas pro 18 Transitions menu is very small. The names of filters in the Video FX menu are also very small.

What should I do?

Give this a try ... but no promises of course. This is with VP18 - go to Options/Preferences/Display (tab) and will probably will see that the bottom checkable item but greyed out is "Use Alternate HighDPI Settings" If you check the item just above - "Use High DPI Scaling (where available)" - you can then uncheck "Use Alternate HighDPI Settings".

I've no idea if this will, but its worth a try.

1920x1080... that's the same resolution to me as well...

I notice you are asking the same question last year: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/problem-with-the-font-size--125083/

Currently haven't been able to find solution as the problem is I didn't do anything specific or change any windows system font setting alike..

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 8/30/2021, 3:08 PM

Have you tried going into Win10 Settings, Ease of Access, Display? It's got ways of increasing text font size but I'm not sure if Vegas responds to it or not.

m-yusuf wrote on 8/30/2021, 3:42 PM

Dear Howard-Vigorita

Thank you for your response, and I inform you that I tried in various ways to solve this problem without finding a solution Note that this problem only appears in version 18 and 19, and this is very unfortunate and confusing I still hope that someone will help me to overcome this problem.

rraud wrote on 8/31/2021, 10:06 AM

On your PC, you can increase the global DPI percentage, and/or decrease the screen resolution, but this will affect the size of everything on the PC display. Due to my imperfect (aging) eyes, I have my Dell XPS-15 laptop's 4K display set to 1920x1080 and the DPI set to 175%. Unfortunatly some parts of some menus are off-screen and the DPI must be temporarily reduced, which is an annoyance, but a not as much as straining to read tiny text menus and pinhead size toolbar icons.

m-yusuf wrote on 8/31/2021, 4:23 PM

Dear rraud,

Unfortunately, all experiments failed and did not bring good results The surprising thing is why this bug is only in version 18 and 19 And why can't the developers find a solution to this problem? Is this issue that difficult?!

I'm starting to lose hope !

Does anyone in this forum help me?

set wrote on 9/3/2021, 2:14 AM

Currently can't offer any suggestion. The Transition / VideoFX / Media Generator for VP18 & VP19 uses new user interface window dock, different from VP17.

But I have forwarded the issue to developers - they try to investigate this.

@m-yusuf good post, readability is problematic and Vegas as a NLE is not alone with this problem; workarounds are possible (as described earlier) but not ideal.

@set

Currently can't offer any suggestion. The Transition / VideoFX / Media Generator for VP18 & VP19 uses new user interface window dock, different from VP17.

But I have forwarded the issue to developers - they try to investigate this.

I was tempted to issue a bug for this, but you beat me to it; no point in repeating.

@Howard-Vigorita a very good suggestion to up the text scale via "Win10 Settings, Ease of Access, Display" (instead of the somewhat better known method of raising the display scale in windows); you were not sure if Vegas responds to this, and the answer is both yes and no: yes for text like for example in the explorer window; no for the text in windows in the Transition / VideoFX / Media Generator; this is clearly a bug - as @set forwarded the issue to the developers. Furthermore Gary himself from Vegas mentioned in another Vegas 19 post (I do not have the link at hand), that Vegas is following windows scale setting; which is as it looks now only partly true.

To all of you: not only the text is to small for me, also the icons; so I decided yesterday to up my windows scale from 125% (which was my previous level) to 150% on my 38 inch 3840*1600 which is not a 4K screen, but ultra wide and as such has a view "discomfort" close to 4K. I tried other applications, and this resolution is doable with my senior age, eyesight and screen. Looking back, I should have done this sooner when working with the older Vegas versions, maybe I was hesitant to go over 125% in the past due to scaling issues in older APPs, but most modern apps are getting better at this.

Dear set,

Did you get an answer from the developers I'm really still waiting for the answer to the puzzle

Jeffrey-Burton wrote on 8/12/2022, 3:37 AM

I had the same problem after loading Vegas Pro 19 on my new Dell G15. Since I didn't have the problem on my old computer I looked at what my graphic settings were. I set my new computer Display settings the same as my old computer as follows. Go into Settings - 'Ease of Access', set Font to 110%. Right click on your desktop to get the popup menu. Click 'Display Settings'. Set screen resolution to 1366 x 768 and the 'Change size of font, apps and other items' to 100%. The text is now big enough to read.
