Seems like a problem with this type of media. Can you share MediaInfo for it?

When I open a new project, insert the MP4 file, the image does not appear, I only hear the audio.I have already enabled the Quick time plugin, but it still does not work.

@Marcal-Mateus - You are not alone. That Codec mp4a-40-2 appears to be a bit of a monster. I just did a Google of it - stand well back.

Seems to be a screen grab of a videogame, always wondering that people use Vegaspro to edit such recordings.

I use, I have always used, I have never had problems, it is a good editing program. And yes, I'm trying to edit several games of a video game to make cuts, yes in Vegas.

Before starting screen grabbing videogames, test which codec and settings are good editable in Vegas. I don't have any experience in this, but probably others here do.

Yeah, but that happened today, 4 days ago it was normal, some update has changed something.

There it is, I insert the video, then there is no preview, it is black, but the audio can be heard.

mark-y wrote on 9/10/2023, 6:08 PM

By "whole timeline," He means an uncropped image of the Vegas Graphic User Interface. The whole thing. Not just the Preview Area.

Marcal-Mateus wrote on 9/10/2023, 7:11 PM

I just can't see the preview, I hear the sounds, but there is no image and I have tried rendering and it renders but only sound. The screen goes black.

Can you share the settings you used to make this file in your capture software? If it's OBS there are ways to get it to work with VEGAS.

If you convert one of your files with ShutterEncoder to output codec h264 or editing codec ProRes does it play?

Failing that if you want to reset VEGAS sometimes that solves odd issues. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

Another thing, it makes no sense to do that thing of reestablishing the configurations, because until 4 days ago it was working normally.

RogerS wrote on 9/10/2023, 7:37 PM

I see the MediaInfo. It tells me it's AVC, 30fps which should work. The folder name says MKV so I'm assuming this is a conversion? Would be helpful to see those settings.

Regarding a reset, I think that's exactly why you would do it- it worked before and no longer does.

No, the file is recorded in MP4, it is just the folder called MKV, which is for other things. It is recorded in MP4, I have not changed anything when recording, but when I take the file to Vegas that happens. I have installed the latest Quick Time, but I still can't see the image

What has changed on your system since then? Graphic driver update? Windows update?

Former user wrote on 9/10/2023, 8:22 PM

It looks like it's auto building a cache, you must have turned that on accidentally. screen is black while building cache. Press cancel in the left hand bottom corner, and turn off the auto proxy creating settings in preferences. I don't know exactly where that is, don't use them, and don't have Vegas here.

FACT CHECKED: Not true, see post below

RogerS wrote on 9/10/2023, 9:05 PM

I think the "picas" are just the audio waveforms (sfk files). Proxies would be under preferences/ video but VP 21 doesn't automatically build those for HD footage.

Do the projects in my signature work? They are tested on many systems. If not I'd reset VEGAS.
