This is ridiculous... Vegas 15 still crashes on rendering!

Initially I was patient as the new version came out but now that there has been a bunch of patches and plenty of time, I am very much frustrated that this program crashes constantly...

I am trying to render videos as WMV file and it crashes! I have a Radeon RX580 with latest drivers 18.3.4... Before I had a very fast NVidia card that would cause it to constantly crash on the timeline and rendering, I thought "hmm if I switch to the card that is more for this program, maybe my problems are behind me..." Nope still crashes....

Wtf guys? I am not happy with my purchase when I have a job that needs things done. I should not be forced to render with the hardware acceleration turned off when rendering.

It’s what the company wants...

Have you tried rendering to a visually or mathematically lossless intermediate, then using the intermediate to render to .wmv? That might sooth the pain to a dull agony.

+1. Do this ALL THE TIME, and have no troubles. Currently using MagicYUV as codec du jour. Go to the website (MagicYUV not MAGIX) and download the free version. It's fast, lossless, and file sizes are large but not humungous like uncompressed.

Same problem here. 95% of the time I get a hard crash when attempting to open the render dialog. The other 5% it works for some reason and I can't figure out why. Driving my crazy and straight into the arms of Resolve. Had the same problem with Vegas 13. Using a Radeon RX480. I tried filing a ticket but the response I got after thoroughly describing the issue was: "Can you send us a screen shot?". Uggh..... too bad as Vegas is still a nice editor but if you can render your freaking project!!!

Render here all the time - No problem. Lot of resources here to help you figure out the problem if you care to try.

@marc-s Does your machine have Intel integrated graphics as well as the AMD card? If so, and you disable the Intel Graphics using Device Manager, does it still crash when you open the render dialog? How about if you disable the AMD graphics?

@Phil No it does not. My computer specs are as follows: Asus X99-A Motherboard, Intel i7-5820K, Radeon RX480 with 8 GB memory, 64GB System Memory, Windows 10 with latest updates.

I can render all day long and have never had an issue using Resolve, Premiere CS6, After Effects CS6, Adobe Media Encoder, Tmpg Enc Mastering Works 6 and Pro Show Gold.

I can for the most part edit all day long in Vegas 15 with few issues but as soon click the "render as" button or "Render to a new track" Vegas hard crashes without opening the render dialog box. If I restart it usually does not solve the issue. This can happen on complex or extremely simple projects with one clip and no effects.
